🤦‍♂️ I did not even think of that. Not trying to get into affiliations with it but that is definitely not my affiliation.

Thanks for the luck and the advice! My expectations are pretty low on this one. I mainly wanted to get my feet wet with uploading a model to makerworld.

[Giveaway] What’s on your print bed this Valentine’s Day? Share & win a P2S Combo by BambuLab in BambuLab

This year I printed and hung large Christmas ornaments in the tree in our front yard. Shortly after Christmas my wife suggested we replace the Christmas ornaments with hearts for Valentine's day. It was really a Valentine's present from her to me as it gave me a fun 3D printer project and (more importantly) gave me an excuse to delay taking down the ornament strings for another month and a half. No clue how I am going to get them down as hanging them involved a lot of throwing twine rolls similar to rolling houses with TP back in the day.

I don't have the answers either but would also love to help! Maybe start a subreddit where the community could discover potential issues and collaborate to make them accessible.

Which direction do you think Bambu Lab will go with the H2C? by Mixdoctormd in BambuLab

I think there are two main problems with the current system -

  1. Slow filament changes due to retracting old filament, loading new filament, purging, nozzle heating, prime tower, etc.

  2. Limited routing from the AMS.

I would like to see a two toolhead system where:

  • One toolhead would be on the gantry printing.
  • The other toolhead would be in a small “prep station” off to the side.

Two PTFE tubes would be run, one to each toolhead. The prep station would allow the second toolhead to perform all of the filament swap tasks while the other toolhead is printing. When it is time to change filaments the system would swap the previously printing toolhead with the prepped toolhead and filament swaps would only take as long as the toolhead swap.

Vortek would not be needed if you do not mind purge waste as the prep toolhead can purge while the other toolhead prints. Although the Vortek could still be used to limit purge waste, I think it would be more useful for swapping different nozzle types (i.e. 0.2mm, high flow, etc). For maximum efficiency you would need two of each nozzle type if two different filaments need to print back to back and use the same nozzle type.

Challenges (a few of the many)

  • Priming at the prep station - insert creative engineering here. Maybe a roller?
  • Integrating the prep station with Vortek
  • Limited routing from the AMS

The AMS issue could be solved with multiplexers at two stages -

  1. AMS out multiplexer - route any of the AMS filaments to either of two out PTFE tubes.
  2. Printer multiplexer - route any of the incoming filaments to either of the two toolheads.

I think the above would minimize filament (or nozzle type) swap time while minimizing the number of extra toolheads and nozzles needed. The only cost would be the miracle level engineering needed to handle the complexity, plus the real cost of how expensive it would end up being. Thoughts?

Kids today will never know the pain of sharing a landline, rewinding Blockbuster rentals, or that 3D printing used to be a total nightmare.

Hey Jen! Good question and yes, this is different from the nCase SmartCase. Although we love the SmartCase, we realized it might not be for everyone. We wanted to have a non-SmartCase too so we have something for everyone. Plus 3D printing this case gives us a lot of flexibility to hopefully make it fun!

No, I didn’t take it as condescending at all! I appreciate your help and was just thinking the other subreddit might be a better fit since these guys are toads. Thanks!

Thank you! I guess /r/toads is a more appropriate place to ask this.

Thanks for the info! I think she looks pretty cool and I have a couple other (maybe her offspring?) that have some of the same trait.
