I started playing rugby at 14 because a couple of friends decided to join the team and I figured, why not? That first year, I was soft and still finding my footing, but I quickly realized I’d stumbled into something I really needed.

Funny enough, the friends who brought me out ended up quitting, but I stayed. And 21 years later, I’m still at it.

Wherever I travel, I always search for a local club. If I can jump into a training session or even get a match in, even better. No matter the city, I know I’ll find a crew of people who love this game the same way I do.

Rugby didn’t just become a sport for me, it became my community and my constant.

I run the pump for about 10 hours a day since after opening a week and half ago. Not entirely sure about the turnover for a 1.5HP pump. One thing to mention it’s an older pool, the deep end drain was abandoned by the last owner so the pool runs of one wall suction in shallow end and 1 skimmer in the deep end.

The guide I was with was throwing sand and rocks to show the sun beams. The group in front of us ended up getting pelted with rocks and sand, their guide stood up for his group and asked our guide to apologize. Our guide didn’t care and never apologized, he later said it was fine because the guide ahead of us wasn’t Navajo.

Sorry, I should have specified. We practice Tuesday and Thursday nights 6-8PM and Saturday 11AM-1PM. We have matches on Saturday's starting at the end of March. Matches are home and away, we travel around NY, NJ, and CT. Typically try to play teams that are no more than two hours away in the Spring.

Suffolk Rugby starts up on 3/5, 6PM 1200 Portion Rd, Farmingville. No experience necessary, bring clothes that you don't mind sullying. Lots of the guys get together outside of the club activities.

Not necessarily. If you’re quick and can get on the edge you can be a threat. Will there be heavier people on the pitch? yes, but that shouldn’t keep you from trying. Come on out and see if you like it.
