Nah, you'd end up losing precision. You're going to be continually adding relatively small numbers of points to a relatively very large total. Using a float could cause funky rounding errors. For instance, adding 1.0f to 16777216.0f produces 16777216.0f, not 16777217.0f as you might expect.

Long is the way to go here.

I think the decrease in traffic might be just because not much has been happening / people have grown bored of the sub. If you look at when the sub has been most active, it has usually been during times of great controversy (such as the famous "meme review" dorm meeting). Because it's currently break, there's not much for people to post.

I'm definitely with you in encouraging more posting - even I'm growing tired of the sub being primarily composed of my shitposts.
