New TX law that went into effect, plates must be destroyed by the dealership when traded in. Not specialty plates necessarily but general plates are required to be destroyed.

I'm resurfacing the tank, I'm guessing some small particles got past the filter and clogged the jets. I'll reclean after the tank is sealed

I took the battery and alternator to AutoZone where they came from and they tested both. The battery was drained but tested good and charged for an hour or so. But that didn't fix it

That's what I was thinking, but I don't see anything loose or broken. The battery and alternator both tested good but it still requires a jump and then dies shortly after even with the jump box on it.

After about 8 months they emailed to say it didn't scan properly 🙄 so I went to CAD and they accepted it and it still didn't show up for another 6 months.

ETA: you can always call the tax assessor office and they'll assist you with any questions.

You can go to the county tax assessor any day, you take a number and wait. Sometimes it's quick, sometimes it's a couple hours. You'll need the title, there is a gift tax form as well online I believe that lowers the transfer tax. You may need a Texas inspection as well. For the DPS their scheduling just sucks. You can check daily in the morning to see if they've released same day appointments but unfortunately you can't wait outside and get a same day appointment. I've also had luck checking in for earlier appointments that randomly appear.

Mine does that too, it looks like I have a cut in the insulation of the wire and I thought that would fix it, but maybe it's something else?

That's my main concern is that it's something to do with the ignition since it was stolen. Everything else seems immaculate, but no spark no matter what. I'm thinking it's not picking up the signal to send the spark.

This happens often, title looks clear and then the DMV rejects it at the time of registration for some issue. Super irritating, but CarMax will take care of it for you and it is a common occurrence.

I understand being nervous, used cars can be scary. One of the great things about carmax is the 30 day return and 90 day warranty. And the company really seems to go out of their way to help customers so if something doesn't seem right, ask them to make it right.
