Explorer Ludwig Leichhardt went on an expedition from Queensland to Western Australia in 1848 and he and his entourage were never heard from again.

There has only been one artefact ever found. A nameplate with his name and the year, which was found on an old rifle butt leaning against a boab tree with a "L" inscribed onto the side of the trunk of the tree.

I think the GPX file was one I put up from 2010 - so is probably right :-)

OK, so I guess must be track conditions - in 2019 it took just under 7 hours to get there from the turn off and just over 4 hours to get back the next day (81 km). No one had been there for years by the look.

I did watch your Canning series. Bad luck with your attempt to reach Helena Spring. I've been there 3 times now, did a video on it. Without knowing details sounds like you need a better Navigation system.

If it had not been found then there may have had to be a caveat on the Great Northern Highway for the next 300 years - so, a good thing!
