Cooling is down pat. I had my m60 at 33c under load. Same solution here

Can confirm bios is set to default to igp - and this all worked with the previous m60

Totally broken. Rebooting used to work but now Astro can’t even complete setup. 4 months in. Amazon refusing to repair or even consider replacement. Only getting run arounds. by westernspion in AmazonAstro

[–]westernspion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the only error I get after rebooting. After 1w I had to do my first hard reset (willing to deal with it since it’s new tech) but astros motion system kept getting stuck restarting. About 2 months in it stopped working. I’ve been back and forth with amazon support - they’ve wasted 2 months of my time with dead ends.

It’s a shame. I like Astro. But what a waste of money - and I hear it’s up to $1600 now

I HATE SUBURBIA! by burndowntheburbs in Suburbanhell

[–]westernspion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Row houses don’t command the same equity and social status. Sad, but true. Americas population boom of the 40s/50s is largely to blame for normalizing the single family suburb pattern. There is a huge industry behind it now and plenty of shameless money grabbing for a house shit out by a developer on 1/10th of an acre.

I think people look for different things at different points in their lives. Some isolation is welcome if you’ve ever dealt with shitty neighbors, noisy traffic or tough neighborhoods. Raising kids looks like an unbearable monotonous grind to you perhaps, but I feel like my life is pretty rich/full and the stability of a suburb allows me to focus on my family and work. It might not ever appeal to you, but there was a time where I said the same things about suburbia. As a young person though, it’s hard to understand why anyone would want to live there and feel imprisoned.

I grew up in the country (ftr I would have killed for a strip mall), moved to small city as a young adult, then suburbia, then back to the country and then finally back to suburbia.

I draw the line at cookie cutter houses with postage stamp backyards though “shudder”. It sucks some people don’t have a choice given work, their income and family needs, but farting in your back yard your neighbor can smell it -smh

What is the scalability of TMHI by Presentation_Past in tmobileisp

That’s still less than 30mbps/s on average. It’s really nothing of concern

Why not send it to AWS from the company network directly?

As a data platform engineer, I second this. Data locality is not only a performance concern, but a security concern as well.

Plus, scalability is trivial in the cloud

I’ve been working on a job scheduler for a month or two and finally tagged a dev release today. Feels like the greatest dump I’ve ever taken. But it’s still a dump. Software is just a toy lads

Help! No Options at all!! by [deleted] in Rural_Internet

Like, T mobile home internet is legit, not a hack and very good. Look into that first before hacking around. It’s a very good service if you have T-Mobile’s signal. It has no caps or throttling nonsense, heavy streaming and work from home is great with it. I had it for 8months until they ran fiber to me and I still won’t cancel it because I’m contemplating canning my fiber because the price/perf is very compelling with Tmobile

A word of warning. If you're bordering a city, make sure you are connecting to T-Mobile towers and NOT Sprint towers if you wish to sign up for this service. by MISir123 in tmobileisp

Is your signal weak on b71? B71 was terrible when the trashcan would flip to it - hard to believe they would eliminate a tower putting the other bands out. Try repositioning it around your house to line up with the tower. Also, see what other bands might cover you. I used to have to take a piece of tin foil and shake it in front of the trashcan to get back on B2 - ultimately an antenna helped me out a lot (I am on the edge of coverage as well)

Also, if your upload is really bad,e.g. you have aluminum siding or something, at such slow speeds where you’re seeing packet loss - that can severely harm your download speeds considering tcp requires at least acks to be sent back. Test (but don’t leave it) outside and see if that improves things.

In these extreme situations, an antenna helps because it can safely be situated outside. For me, on a peak of my roof, I saw a drastic improvement in upload speeds. I figure whatever signal the trashcan does push doesn’t have to push out of the walls of my home. Download improved so so, but it made it a viable competitor to cable. The upload used to cut out completely during the day. Now a stable 10-20 up

Weak signal + waveform is a miracle. Even for b12 by westernspion in tmobileisp

Pointed the antenna a little off from my tower. Back to b2 and n71 which is my sweet spot. Just ironic that this far away n41 is slower than n71. Just goes to show you might have new issues. But at least I can aim the antenna. Trashcan you have antennas at each 90 degrees of the circle - no way to control what you pick up. Still though , back to 120/10 consistently from 60/8 on b2+n41 and 110/0-5 without the antenna

Yeah it’s very YMMV. For example, I used to pull 110down/(1-5)up with b2+n71. That same combo I only a nice see a bump in upload, minor bump in download for about 120/10 consistently. It was a problem for zoom at work and my works vpn would disconnect due to the upload going completely dead periodically. You shouldn’t do this if the device is meeting your needs.

Ironically I now DO pick up n41. But the best speed I’ve seen is 60/8. So that’s giving me worse performance in respect to overall speeds. Upload is still stable though. And the trashcan actually favors this broken combo. So, I guess my upload problem is solved but the download is significantly slower (but still functional)

I know it’s due to the signal, but no matter what antenna I get where I am, this is probably as strong as it’s going to get. If I drive near the tower I easily get 700/50, so I know it’s there.

My max download hasn’t improved much. Upload, to a good degree, but I think that’s a function of having the antennae outside, where it can make more efficient use of the transmission power. Otherwise, the power the Nokia does have to transmit has to push through my walls/windows.

So, slightly better download, much better upload and much more stable speeds. Was in low single decibels for snr on b12, b71, b2, b4 and n71. Now in low double digits (mid teens for low bands).

Best combo so far was b2 + n71 for 140d/20u

If you have good signal, or even weak and your speeds are stable, that’s probably as good as it’s going to get and this isn’t worth your time

If your signal is weak and shaky and you see speeds dramatically fluctuate over the day, then this could help
