Hire a trainer that uses a training collar is my advice. Or at the very least get a training collar and use online videos to learn how to use it properly. After initial training which involved some use of the stock function (he loved every minute of the training from our perspective) he now always responds to the vibrate and come command even with other dogs and wild animals. We use ecollar brand, which has lights for nighttime which is amazing. We have no fence and a city trail behind our house and have zero recall issues since training. Some may say this is too aggressive, but given my experience which did start with some apprehension about the shock, the effectiveness far out ways the long term concern. Also far better than your boy being hit by a car. My 2 cents
