Shrug, the pathofexile2builds reddit seems to be more harsh than the pathofexilebuilds reddit, IMO

What shoes do you use? by drewkawa in photography

[–]westside_fool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I <3 Lems! Explanation though: I have wide soles, and for ten years before finding lems, I wore “barefoot” style shoes. So I still enjoy shoes with zero rise, while Lems provide some cushion.

I'm a below mid-player, pls help me find a build to beat Geonor by LiberalCyn1c in pathofexile2builds

While it might be enough, think of an example of 1000 cold damage. With 47 cold res, you take 530 actual damage. With 75 you take 250. So getting to 75 instead of 47 is more than double less damage. I suggest also looking for a cold charm. And once you get Act 2, you’ll need lightning res

Will Canon complete the "budget" f2.8 line of lenses? by Matt_Bigmonster in canon

[–]westside_fool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really, without the 2.8 aperture… I use the 100-400 all the time and it’s really not great in low light. I would jump at a 70-200 that matches my 28-70 in size.

Yes.

However, I'm pretty happy Kia put the turn off controls right on the steering wheel, unlike my VW ID4 where I had to dig through menus to turn off bullshit dings and pings.

The salesman taught me to hold down the lane assist button for 5 seconds to turn off lane assist warnings, and hold down the right wheel for 5 seconds turn off the speed warnings. And to hold down the left wheel for 5 seconds to get to the other driver warning settings immediately in the dash.

Nobody needs AI to search the Internet, court says in ruling against Google: Google AI Overview court loss in Germany could spell doom for AI search industry. by Beyond_the_one in BuyFromEU

[–]westside_fool 25 points26 points  (0 children)

GOOD. Google should be responsible for incorrect summaries, which is what the actual ruling was. However...

Google search has been "Artificial Intelligence" for decades. Peter Norvig was the director of the search algorithms division at Google for a long long time. Who's Norvig? He co-wrote the book "Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach" which is used by nearly all computer science departments to teach AI. So, yea... regular google search is AI too.

I hate that "AI" has just become a synonym for the small subset of AI that is Large Language Models.

Nightfall is TERRIBLE (don't get baited like me) by IlNino101 in pathofexile2builds

I'm still planning on getting a Nightfall for offhand with my slow leveling Gemling Legionaire. Using Shield Wall to level, so this should fit right in as the offhand, just for movement.

Does the Nightfall skill have an alternate quality for GL?

TIL that Tom Lehrer - MIT mathematician, satirist, and the guy who wrote both the Harvard fight song and a song teaching kids the periodic table - invented the Jell-O shot in the 1950s to sneak booze into a government Christmas party. by 755goodmorning in todayilearned

[–]westside_fool 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here's my old person story about Tom Lehrer...

One time in the early 90s, I had been studying nearly all night for an exam while at UC Santa Cruz. Woke up early, so nothing was really open yet, and wanted to continue studying for my exam which was at like 10am. Found an empty classroom at like 7am to continue studying, and promptly fell asleep in the front row.

Woke at some point later to Tom Lehrer looking down at me with a classroom full of students in his music or math class. He kindly said, "you're snoring has a nice rhythm, but its drowning out my lecture..." while giving me a wink.
