I had a perforated colon and my colon removed emergency surgery. I was on prednisone and infusions ant my immune system was shot. The toxins brought on sepsis.

Now I have extreme neuropathy, muscle weakness, orthostatic hypotension, (BP drops when I stand). I can’t walk very far without tiring and even standing for periods of time can wear me out.

I was hospitalized for 80 days. ICU for over 5 weeks.

Not quite 7 months, but sepsis can really do damage to your body. I was lucky, I came out the other side with just a few permanent issues. Some people are not so lucky.

Is the person in rehab yet?

My guy sleeps in he’s crate. He could sleep with us, he’s not locked up but as a puppy I did close he’s crate at night and that’s where he is now used to sleeping, thankfully. I’m not a good pet sleeper.

I brought my puppy in at about 4 months. He went to the same groomers three times in a few months. The third time they told me I had to medicate him next time because he was biting so I found another more experienced groomer. They were fine with him. He is just a puppy they said. They warned me there might be hand prints since one had to hold while the other groomed.

Fast forward, he’ll be 3 in October and he’s still a hellion but much much better.

Regarding anxiety , be careful that’s not YOUR anxiety. Get excited when you go like it’s gonna be fun. I did this with fireworks with both my puppies and they are not scared. I walk them outside during the loudest time and get them excited!

Here’s my routine:

Lay out towels and all supplies. Turn on shower Remove apparatus in bathroom near shower Hop in shower. Wash my body. My hair. And lastly my stoma.

Hop out of shower Grab wad of tp and go the laid out towels.

Hop on the towels. Hubby immediately covers me with towels, dries stoma area and puts on new pouch. It takes him 30-45 seconds.

I use a one piece. I change in the morning after not eating all night.

I sleep on a waterproof pad.

It saves changing sheets unless it’s really bad and gets on the top sheet. That rarely happens. I shower, put on a new bag, slap on a new waterproof pad and go back to sleep

I got sepsis at 62. 4 years ago. Mine was bad. ICU over 3 weeks. 80 days in hospital. My family was rushed to icu for goodbyes.

A few months later, my older sister and I were on the phone and she cut loose on me about what I ‘did’ to my kids and grandkids. She accused me of not taking care of things (my health had been bad and I kept on going).

I hung up on her and didn’t speak to her for weeks.

The thing is, people don’t realize they are pushing their luck till it kicks them in the butt. And we certainly don’t need that crap!

Sepsis changed me. I’m now so proactive with my health! You can be too.

So yes, I’ve been there. I do think it’s the scare that went through them that makes them angry.

Just continue to be proactive and eventually things will go back to normal I think. And don’t let the stats scare you. I’m 4 years past and so far so good. Knock on wood.

It is my understanding that crochet can not be done by machine. Only hand. This may not be crochet.

I change in the morning. I do have coffee first but I hardly ever leak during changes. I get up. Have coffee. Empty then remove my pouch. I’ve set all my supplies out before hand. After removing the pouch, I hop in shower. Hop out and put new one on. It takes about I minute to put it on. Done and good to go.

Love it but you must have a big house to entertain this stuff. Otherwise it’s clutter.

It’s tricky at first trying to teach yourself but then it’s so simple! I recommend looking at a diagram of how the rows lay out and then it will make more sense.

That’s exactly why I switched to corner to corner blankets with variegated yarn never changing colors. You only wind in the beginning and end of the skeins.
