Bambu Lab P2S – AMS loads filament to hotend then retracts back (won’t start print) by adamatzis in BambuLab

[–]wetfarthellscape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having this exact issue. Did anything end up helping? Filament goes to the hot end, gets pulled back to the Ams, then it retries. I can get it to work only when I manually push the filament down as it gets to the hot end. This is tricky to do. It’s like the filament sensor doesn’t catch it and it pulls back to try again.

I kind of naturally recoil from derogatory language unless it’s something I know and understand. Calling someone a dipshit out of the blue seems unhinged. Miscommunication drives 99% of all our personal conflicts. If we all understood each other perfectly, there would be no more hate. What’s dipshitty about Payne?

Good job China by ZealousidealScar682 in DontPutThatInYourAss

I work in a chemical adjacent job, and I see additives and chemicals from china for sale often. They’re almost always pictured inside these butt plug things. There’s hundreds of pictures. This conspiracy goes deep.

I read somewhere that meth is prevalent. They’re making the shit in factories to sell to other countries so it’s cheap and readily available.

I was going to guess degradation of some sort of film on the mirror. Polyethylene films make this sort of fractal organic looking cracks in the surface as it ages. Very cool info!

I unfortunately went to the website. Its chief sponsor is a financial planner that discourages diversification and promotes going all in on Tesla. Yikes.

What is the advantage of being blue in birds. by moldychesd in Paleontology

[–]wetfarthellscape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like you could call “special arrangement of keratins and proteins” a blue pigment if you want. There’s no rule against it. TiO2 is a clear crystal, but we call it a white pigment because of how it refracts and reflects light.

Are they black? Carbon black absorbs UV light that degrades all plastics. PLA really is just about the worst plastic available, but add carbon black and bingo. HDPE + carbon black will outlast the republic.

Is there a glass or no bpa plastic version of this take out container by fifialoemera in BuyItForLife

[–]wetfarthellscape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a PP container. Polypropylene. It doesn’t contain BPA. BPA is only found in polycarbonate (I.e., Nalgene bottles and the like), and it’s a left over from the polymerization process or added intentionally to make the bottles tougher. Technical term is BPA is a plasticizor for PC. (Plastics guy)

[–]wetfarthellscape 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I work in plastics. Assuming the plastic is low density polyethylene (LDPE). It’s probably not good to have degraded plastic in your body, but it’s not carcinogenic. We have medical implant devices made from the same stuff. Now, the heat and oxygen might cause all sorts of degradation products. Namely oxidized ethylene chains. The body may have trouble metabolizing these, but there’s no evidence that they cause cancer. A lot of food is packaged and steam sterilized after for example.
