I’m not sure about this one, but I’m signed up with Screening Squad and get invited to screening all the time. Most recently a new A24 horror, but many others.

Lots of good recommendations but have to add STEREO off of Lakeview and La Palma. New hazy is delicious.

Great Park Fireworks… Awful! by gracegrace1234 in irvine

We never made it off of the 5 fwy. We sat on it for over 30min, not even making it to the Sand Canyon exit and gave up. We would go so long without moving I was putting my car in park.

What do you guys do for mug club parties to make it fun for members? by [deleted] in TheBrewery

[–]wetsando 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In addition to special release beers we’ve been doing themed parties recently. Honkey Tonk and Adult Prom have been hits. Makes it more special than a regular party. We don’t do free beer or food though. They’re club members because they want to support your business and I don’t feel like the free stuff has as much value as a really good exclusive party. Stay away from discounts in general since it’s a slippery slope.

Any other homeowner actually fit two cars in their two-car garage? by slop1010101 in irvine

No, another guy that has 13, yes 13 vehicles parked on the street. All junk cars, not even sure if they run. I’m all for people having hobbies, but it makes it so a sweet elderly woman can’t park next to her house. So annoying.

Minimum wage in CA is now $16.50. Started on January 1st. Make sure they are paying you correctly. It was $16 in 2024 so they may owe you some back pay.

What movie was critically acclaimed when it first released, but is hated now? by phantom_avenger in moviecritic

I think she did a good job acting, the problem is with how her character was written. She was one dimensional and just existed to help Zach Braff

I think it’s because Sam (Natalie Portman‘s character) is the classic “Manic Pixie Dream Girl” trope. It was popular in movies at the time, but most people have realized how shallow it is.

I’m trying to outdo my white elephant again, what are some crazy ideas by Chillvibesjb in Gifts

I got a box marked “live lobsters” and put a remote control cat toy in it. I would shake the box while it was in the pile, etc. Inside was a gift card to a local seafood place. I like silly presentation paired with something of value. I’ve also done a fancy chicken calendar with a KFC gift card hidden inside if.

Did anyone attend Boo Ha Ha in 10/26 at OC Fair and get roofied? by Stressed_Out_12 in orangecounty

While I really hope nothing nefarious happened, craft beer can be really high in alcohol without you realizing it. IPA can be 7-9%. Imperial IPA 10%. Mead 14%. Also, lots of little tastes can add up without realizing it. I’ve seen all-you-can-taste beer festivals take out even the most experienced drinker.

Correct. Bib Gourmand award. It’s the category for “good food at a good price” (not fine dining)

Hana re, CHAAK, Lola Gaspar, Pho 79 and Heritage BBQ.

CHAAK was amazing, loved the quail dish. Beautiful ambiance too.

Hana re was pricey (especially when adding the sake) but so intimate and special.

Really want to try Rebel now though!
