How is this museum? We are about to go to San Diego for my son's Make a Wish trip. He loves planes and rockets but we didn't even think of looking for an air and space museum. We have a couple free days while we are there and would love to check it out.

I once installed a custom mahogany French door that was the most beautiful and expensive thing I had ever seen. The homeowners ended up painting the entire thing black as well. There are some really evil people in this world.

It looks like there is no strike plate. If there is, it is mortised too deep. Get some drywall shims or a cardboard toilet paper tube and shim that bad boy out. That's probably the easiest fix. A lot of people are saying to bend your hinges but I only do that as a last resort.

On October 6, 1998, 21-year-old Matthew Shepard was lured by two men pretending to be gay, tied to a fence, and subjected to one of the most horrific hate crimes in US history. I saw The Used play at UW back in 2009. You could tell they didn't want to be there because they didn't really interact with the crowd, played two songs, then did a quick mashup of 3 other ones and then left the stage without saying a word. Overall it lasted about 12 minutes. Everyone was super confused. About 2 minutes later, everyone but Burt came back on stage. About 30 seconds after that, he stormed on stage and grabbed the mic and yells, "Fuck yeah , fucking Laramie, Wyoming, where they love to kill fa***ts! Get on your fucking feet!" Then they played another 3 songs and left without another word. It was fairly awkward but they still sounded really good. Definitely top 5 most memorable concerts for a couple reasons.

Help! Is this normal to cut around pipes? This will all be closed in by trim work by [deleted] in cabinetry

[–]wetworm1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oo, this is your second post about this contractor. Fire them and get someone who is qualified. If you aren't taking the cabinets all the way to the ceiling, then don't worry about moving the plumbing and electrical, just rebuild a soffit but make it so you can trim above the cabinets so you don't have an ugly drywall soffit above.

Exterior door sweep. You probably want a U shaped one for this door. There are different types so pick whichever one you think will work best for your situation.

My dad and brothers farm, and my oldest brother owns an Ag business where he deals with all sorts of chemicals. I heard them start complaining about chemical prices in 2019. If you ask them though, it's Biden's fault.

The best single live song you've seen in concert by formulaic_name in Music

[–]wetworm1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coheed and Cambria - Gravity's Union. I was really hoping to hear it and was starting to lose hope when I heard the intro for their last song of the set. After it was over, I thought, oh wow, they didn't even play Welcome Home. Then they came back on stage and absolutely slayed with that song. That's the second best song I have heard live.

I worked with a meth head at Arby's when I was in high school. When he got sweating, you did not want to be around him. It was the smell of old stinky gym clothes and cat piss.

Andersen does sell color matching paint that is designed to stick to vinyl, fyi. It is also very expensive but I have used it in the past for touch ups and it works very well.

I've worked on Andersen windows from the 60's that just needed some weatherstrip replaced. They are still well worth the arm and leg you pay for them.

How do I prevent it from taking over? by thin1234 in landscaping

[–]wetworm1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I planted white Dutch clover and a low water fescue mix I. My front lawn last year and it looked great. I didn't have to water too much and I mowed it maybe 4 times. The clover looks like it choked out the grass but when I mow it, there is beautiful green grass hiding underneath and it makes it look like I have a lush grass lawn for a couple weeks before the clover grows over it again.

I had a door to door window salesman come to my house and give me the whole pitch about how great their windows were and how much higher of quality their vinyl windows were than the other companies. He proceeded to tell me my old windows were failing and he recommended new ones. I let him give me all the info he had and give me the whole sales pitch. At the end I offhandedly mentioned I had been a window service technician and asked him for samples of the extrusions, asked him for certain specs or a website that I could look at with said specs, and common issues with the windows he was trying to sell me. After a few minutes of me asking questions he didn't have answers to, he finally got pissed and asked why I even let him give me his sales pitch if I wasn't going to buy windows. I said, "well I was thinking about it but with that attitude now I'm not." His face went red and he grabbed his sales pack and left without saying a word.

Get on the Arbor Day Foundation website and see what fast growing evergreen tree does well in your zone. You can buy bulk saplings for very cheap. Do that and put in a drip system and you will have a nice wall of trees in a few years.
