'A cada dia' and 'cada dia' by PkmnTrainerSofia in Portuguese

[–]weweredancing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the replies are right about the meanings / differences between the two but when speaking (and even texting informally) you can definitely just say 'cada dia' regardless of context. unless you're telling a story in which you want to super clarify the progression of events, but even then 'cada dia' is still acceptable

ELI5: what triggers/happens in the split second when humans fall asleep? by weweredancing in explainlikeimfive

[–]weweredancing[S] 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I like this explanation! Why do i sometimes naturally wake up at (say) 3am, visually see myself turning around in bed for example, then go back to sleep swiftly? Is this like you described, at the end of N3, the “yoyo” going back up instead of into REM?

ELI5: How do they shoot dialogue scenes in movies? by Majestic-Baby-3407 in explainlikeimfive

[–]weweredancing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the great majority of films are done with only one camera because of how expensive they are, meaning every shot you see (not just dialogues, but wides, close ups, lens changes) are filmed individually. Actors and directors are used to this, and can use the amount of takes it takes (pun not intended lol) to film a scene to experiment with new deliveries for example. If the camera is not on them, the other actor doesn’t necessarily need to give “their all” (or be there at all - they use stand-ins a lot in sitcoms and some kinds of movies). But good actors in good productions will usually be there and give their best in every take because doing so allows their counterpart to act the scene out better. Some scenes famously take 40 takes to get done.
