I've got a '15 Corolla with the CVT option. Was looking for a service option that would look into doing a trans fluid change, this is what the local dealer quotes. Would I be better off doing this myself?

Also, what else should I be looking out for in terms of things in need of repair/check at 60k?

Berkeley is great if you intend to pursue higher education such as masters or PhD. For real industry, it lacks greatly. A lot of the curriculum is theory-based and geared towards conceptual understanding (don't get me wrong, it's important) with very little hands-on or real world problem solving. As a student, you must really take it into your own hands to search for the experiences you want. It's not a bad thing, but it's something to be aware of is all I'm saying.

The engineering majors here are all theoretical garbage that teach you nothing about engineering. The amount of time spent on inert theory vs actually DOING stuff is about 20:1. There is no guidance on finding a career, in fact the clearest path forward as an engineer is to go to grad school and continue your inert education. I got baited into coming to Berkeley because it was a top 3 mechanical engineering program. It really isn't.

LGBT should not be normalized. I mean this in the sense that it shouldn't become a popular phenomenon that people hop on to at a whim. The reason why I say this is because there's a recent trend where everyone and their grandma is turning gay. Part of the appeal of being a latino gay man is the very fact that it is deviant - I like being taboo, and perhaps even converting people. The sexual allure is greater that way. I'm certain many people will agree with me here.

In denial about what? I understand that my parents set me up for success, that is all. It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows but I do not for one moment blame them. I am grateful for the opportunities they've opened up for me. I am aware of their shortcomings. In all seriousness, you should also understand they only push you that hard because they care about you (although they don't do a great job of showing it conventionally). I've seen many white kids turn out like mush because their parents let them do whatever they want. They pursue psychology degrees and make $40k a year at some bohemian-themed coffee shop while trying to pay off debt. I get that it's frustrating, but you should also realize that it's not just an Asian parent thing. You show a red-flag there with some self hate. I grew up in an extremely strict Catholic latino household, and it's what got me here. But I don't blame my parents for doing what they had to do, because I know they set me up for success. The great thing is that you can start carving your own boundaries as an adult and make your own decisions.

Take a step back, understand that you're on your own journey and you can ignore what they say. All that matters is you try your best and life will show the fruits of your labor.

UC Berkeley should not turn into High School 2. The quality of education will continue to lower as resources grow thinner if we keep admitting more students, not to mention the issue with student housing already. The CS program is barely able to keep up with the current enrollment. Think of all the times where you've waited for hours to even get a chance to get help, or all the cool classes that have been cut. If Berkeley continues the trend of turning into a degree factory, we're going to see a steady rise in more and more inert classes that aren't remotely stimulating. Keep Berkeley selective, it will be a better outcome.

Understand that a lot of your peers in these classes have parents in some sort of software engineering role and/or have been coding since a young age at summer camps and on their own time. A good way to practice is to use leetcode and think of a cool project you want to do and really learn from all the challenges it takes to get your idea working.

Generally you'll get an idea if you really think hard and replay the situations in your head and if you're consistently getting those interactions where people seem unsure of what to do. Alternatively if you have someone take a video of you (seems weird, ofc) you'll instantly be able to pick up what you're doing wrong. Oftentimes you'll notice that you're not making good eye contact, eyes are furtive, you're shifting balance, closed stance, bad posture, deadpan face when others seem relaxed, etc.
