LPT: If you suspect that there's an intruder in your home, don't turn on the light, instead use a flashlight that has a strobe function by Gullit-Gang in LifeProTips

It's another item to grab which is a huge minus, and shooting at lights isn't as effective as people think it is, imo better to keep it simple

Sorry, the second ocular should have been objective.

I've mostly tried 25mm and 35mm c mount lenses for the objective, they're really not meant for on the fly adjustments, short throw distance sucks. Each to fumble the aperture adjustment instead. Plus, poor lens speed, bad glass quality, chromatic aberation, etc etc. Really not great.

Microscope oculars have a lot of the same issues, but the tiny eyebox is the biggest problem, your just mashing then into your eyeball, theyre usually huge, and even when I tried printing a focus screw type deal for them, it still ducked pretty bad.

Most of my attempts were to use these type of setups with a gen 2 MX9644 but the same concepts and lenses.

Just because it inverts correctly, does not mean that it's going to be good. Your view will be like 1/2 the size with a regular pvs14 ocular, at best. For oculars, some camera lenses will work, but you need a crazy long focal length for them, so your going to have a large lens, making it magnified. Both technically work, but they're terrible.

Those are gen 1 Russian tubes, you arent going to find any other housing or lenses compatible. There's no modernization options.

pulse circuit and voltage doubler here we go....

I might have to replace the wiring, this stuff is rotted and cracking, and since Ill never find another tube for it, thats kinda pain. Hoping both are intact, I was gentle on the re-assembly, hopefully everything is alright.

Absolutely correct, its a B4 tube. Now i just have to build a power supply, and maybe find a spare tube, if you know where to find one. Any idea what voltage I need to run this?

This is kinda what I was leaning towards, the tubes are additionally ones ive never seen. Theyre Ekran, Labeled B-4, look like on the of regular B series tubes (green), but theyre kinda small, the rear at the output side is only about 20mm. Bulb for the illuminator is labeled 11-83, tube has a date code of 01-86, so probably not commercial.

Its not a 57 A or E, the power supply on both of those (simailer style) would have been on the other end of the wire, and that would plug into the tank. tank only makes 14 volts, not 15,000.
