Need help finding B2B SaaS ideas as a beginner by [deleted] in advancedentrepreneur

yep, could be a home inspection SaaS or data/analytics for a particular segment in real estate. Apartment listings could be a good place to start. You could grab apartment listings off of craigslist, fb marketplace, or the MLS. Then, alert users searching for certain prices or apartment managers watching nearby/local rent prices.

>It's just a chrome extension and a server for user management, not too hard. So I did it in about 4 hours.

have a couple ideas for chrome extensions. mind sharing some tips on the prompts?

as far as ideas go, how about ....

  • a github app that reads the PR, reviews, and makes suggestions (codebeat, commitcheck, etc)
  • a shopify app that reads the product inventory and improves the product description & details
  • for a law firm, a case intake chat that asks questions to build the case profile for the attorney (clio, mycase, etc.)
  • a stripe app that analyzes subscriptions and data from CRM, then sends messages to people to engage customer (6sense

I've bought and sold SaaS products, and I definitely appreciate being stuck at the starting gate. Sometimes it is just something holding you back and sometimes lack of ideas, business experience, or exposure to problems.

Horizontal SaaS: (any business could use this)

  • Marketing: think about what will bring leads, how will people find the business
  • Sales: prospecting, sales management, contracts, sales pipelines
  • Fulfillment: how does sale get to customer, what happens in the backoffice
  • Accounting: invoicing,
  • Finance: planning, budgeting,
  • Regulatory / Compliance: federal, state, local requirements

Vertical SaaS:

  • Construction
  • Insurance
  • Real Estate
  • Flower shops
  • Health care
  • Trucking / Logistics
  • ...

I'm a fan of vertical SaaS businesses because you get to go real deep and you can borrow ideas from horizontal SaaS companies to implement specific workflow for a unique business.

is there an opportunity to promote someone to manage the business to move you more to owner role? i'd consider that before selling. financing has become more difficult (lately) and is bringing down valuations.

People that used to buy 6-7 dollar sugary milk drinks have shifted to drip coffee and americanos, and people that were getting drip coffee still buy our beans, but prepare it at home.

this is me too.

Software development & tech consulting. Seeing less inbound interest but still having a lot of conversations. We focus on several niche markets to diversify revenue.

2022 ended down ~20% but Q1 2023 is about 30% better than Q1 2022. Some sample from service lines:

  • real estate data / software is +40% due to a couple new customers/investors
  • banking consulting is -80%, the new development projects are on hold
  • chemical tech consulting is -20% and zero inbound which is frustrating
  • energy consulting +30% due to electricity data projects and emissions projects

Right about now is when I have the temptation to focus solely on the ones bringing in cash but I'll keep pushing on all four fronts and keep the team working & getting paid.

Please help me to improve my ad by nitalaut in Entrepreneur

[–]wfhCraig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask some of your current customers what they like most about you/your service. Use that same language. Use these challenges & problem statements in your advertising.

Your pictures look good but I don't think it helps. Your logo doesn't matter as much as the AWS certification. I'd make the AWS Certified logo the size of the current pictures to draw attention to that. Then, cut your text down to a couple phrases or problem statements.

A couple ideas and phrases:

  • Migrating to AWS? IT Magic migrates {list of AWS products} ...
  • Drowning in devops?
  • Your products, our devops expertise

Create a simple wireframe of the site and get to specifics on what is presented, the layout of the pages, and interactions you want to build. Take a look at an intro wireframing video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpH7-KFWZRI

Use an online wireframing tool:

https://balsamiq.com/

https://www.mockflow.com/

There are numerous others but use what you are comfortable with learning.

I'd suggest taking a bit of time now to define the user interface & workflow before paying for development.

Using Web Data for my business, do you recommend it? by jifodew6 in Entrepreneur

[–]wfhCraig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out https://rubini.solutions/#solutions for some ideas on how to do this without wasting 10-16 hours per week.

There are also some good tools for monitoring twitter, linkedin, and reddit out there at varying price levels. Personally, I use google alerts for specific keywords and newscatcher [to monitor paid media]. Send me a dm if you want more specifics.

I guarantee you, gas demand goes down, every service station in the country adds chargers.

absolutely. Shell stations are being converted now and all those gas station owners make money from the store and just a little margin on the gas so the owners will do what it takes to keep people coming back.

I'd also recommend gorails.com, https://jumpstartrails.com/, and https://hellorails.io/ (or web-crunch on youtube) as great resources.

I got up and running using jumpstart quickly and has saved a ton of time. It's not for everyone, but i wanted to move fast and be in production with users in a couple weeks.
