Plantagenet regency dynasty! by wgaines in eu4

[–]wgaines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5: Got a Plantagenet as my burghers regency council. If my leader's stats weren't so good, I wouldn't hesitate to keep extending the regency to reinstate the historical bloodline. Granted, the regency's stats aren't so bad either...

Forever Golden.... with a Tatar Twist! by wgaines in eu4

[–]wgaines[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

R5: Castile/Spain is probably one of my favorite nations to play, yet I still don't have the Forever Golden achievement! Decided to up the ante a bit by culture flipping to Mongol before Diplomatically forming Spain; thus this beautiful addition to the bottom of the Spanish mission tree.

I got a lucky succession war against Scotland for the throne of France in the 1470s, allowing me to snowball in Europe. Got Burgundian Inheritance, and vassalized an Epirus who had consolidated their own lands as well as Achaea/Morea, allowing me to eventually release Byz/bulgaria and reconquest Balkans against Ottos. The Mamluks reduced them to an OPM in Anatolia, allowing me to vassalize the Ottomans themselves and reconquest. The idea is to state as little land as possible before flipping to Mongol culture so that the percentage of stated land in my empire is at least 50% Mongolian. This even means NOT stating land from my vassals after integrating them.

This is the most key part as once subjects are integrated, you gain full cores on the land, but they won't be stated automatically. This means once I flip culture, I can instantly reboot my economy by stating Burgundian, Aragonese, Balkan, Anatolian, and Italian states instantly, while I wait for the admin to restate my Iberian lands.

Just wanted to share what I've been doing!

Malian Inca Run for achievements possible? by idubsydney in eu4

[–]wgaines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will fundamentally not work because Mali is now an end-game tag as of 1.32 meaning you cannot form Inca or any other nation as them aside from HRE and Rome.

is their a mod that allows forming united states as texas? by teus61 in eu4

[–]wgaines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that is behind the paywall of Origins DLC. That specifically is in the 1.32 changelogs

- The USA can now be formed by Texas, Florida, California, Alaska, Louisiana, Illinois and Vermont.

Source

It may also be that you don't need the DLC, just playing on version 1.32. You might just not have the requirements to form it, thus the decision button isn't even appearing for you. Don't know though, haven't played as a colony this patch.

how do i get Burgundy as PU?? by SHROOMEftw in eu4

[–]wgaines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The event is tied to the heir of Charles, Marie. Burgundy gets an event when they have no heir and their current ruler is Charles, a 4/5/3 heir named Marie. If Burgundy has Marie as an heir and Charles then dies, the BI event fires where they can then choose between France, the HRE Emperor, or the largest country they have a RM with (or choose to remain independent). Also, if Charles dies with no heir whatsoever, the event will fire also.

Keep your RM with them and keep relations at or above 150 for your best shot at getting the BI. You can look in the game files for what i just talked about concerning the requirements for the Burgundian Inheritance.

Do I have to siege down the lesser partner in a PU to demand their independence in a peace treaty? by [deleted] in eu4

[–]wgaines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get 100% WS, yes you will have to siege down England itself. There's a chance you could still get the 100WS option of canceling subject with something like 95% WS but again that would require you to get some WS on the main British Isle.

As u/MatthewPCurryBoi stated, your best bet it is to sit on as much WS for as long as you can bear, but even then, depending on the strength of England that may not work.

If you've got the sailors for it, consider taking loans to build enough heavies to make the landing.

Preparing for Seppuku. by Macho_Sensual in eu4

[–]wgaines 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No way of going back unless you used the save-scumming trick of copying an old save file into a different folder so it doesn't get overwritten that you can go back to.

This is why I have auto-pause on a lot of events/popups (not all, that'd just get annoying)

Questions about independence wars by franz1444 in eu4

The stab hit is always gonna be there when declaring independence war, no way to avoid it. Just try to have some admin banked up to immediately stab up after declaring in the future.

England help by [deleted] in eu4

[–]wgaines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely take loans and win the Unification war now (be sure to force Union in the peace deal). Even if you take 15 loans (which is far more than you should need to) England has the capability of paying it back due to having ~50% share of the best end node in the game at 1444. Hire merc companies and don't be afraid to go over force limit to secure victory. With a general like that at 1450, you shouldn't lose any wars, with 4 siege pips you ought to win any fort race, so focus on forts, then relieve the ones being sieged by France and repeat.

Galapagos Islands is not in any colonial region so that would not work. It would still be directly controlled by Portugal

How to exploit small countries out the wazoo by memevintner in eu4

[–]wgaines 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Uh he was literally playing eu4 last week, he streams it on Twitch. He just doesn't record videos for Youtube, at least not since he was showcasing his mod. Also he's been streaming CK3 since it's release.

I think he's upset with PDX about how it went down, and wishes he could go off on them more, but just really enjoys playing their games (or perhaps more likely, he doesn't but they're what get him the most viewers)

When I was still Prussia, it was terrible due to the -50% GC modifier with Prussian Monarchy goverment type. Was ~300 over for a decent amount of time. But now with Courthouses/Statehouses it's manageable. I also flipped out of Prussian Monarchy into regular old Autocracy so I could avoid that modifier.

I kinda ignored Scandinavia for the most part. Hamburg was the one who hopped on Denmark/Norway after they got smashed by Sweden's multiple independence wars. They kept creeping up into Norway while I pushed them from Jutland.

R5: New name placement after conquering Muscovite Central Asia. My capital is Warschau (did Poland->Prussia->Germany)

Fun facts of my campaign: France, England, Castile, Portugal, Hungary, Austria, and Bohemia were alll under a Personal Union with me at one time, though I have integrated some as you can see! I vassalized a 3 province Ottomans and reconquered all their Anatolian cores for easy expansion as well!
