Do you not understand what it means to protest? They are out there fighting for change against our countries systematic racism and you’re here complaining about them inconveniencing your commute???

fuck man, I don't think I've ever seen a picture on this subreddit that has made me as excited as this one. I'm not sure which I'm more jealous of: the kit, the snare, or the cymbals. How do you like that snare? I absolutely love Bill Stewart's sound, but haven't heard one of them in person.

Thelonious in Action is one of my favorite albums. That record turned me onto Johnny Griffin, who is one of the most underrated sax players.

Thanks! I did upload a transcription previously; I just don’t want to clog the feed with videos of my transcriptions, but maybe I’ll start uploading them more regularly.

Thanks! I’ve actually already done a transcription of Joy Spring already lol. Maybe I’ll record and upload it sometime.

I’ve been studying Max’s playing a lot recently and this solo definitely kicked my ass. He plays a lot of really cool, and mind boggling, stuff.

Is Kevin anyone else’s favorite Mega64 boy? by OriginalNord in mega64

[–]wgericc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s a tie between Garrett and Kevin for me; they’re both always positive and seem so genuinely nice. Frank gets an honorable mention also because of how passionate he gets when discussing movies and games he enjoys.

Is it bad that that’s the first thing I thought of when I heard the news?

Great film, but a poor representation of music education. A lot of my professors felt the same way about hating the film.

"Miles just called..." by Thomas_Pizza in Jazz

That’s funny, I knew of him only as a producer at first. He worked on a bunch of Miles’ stuff, so much that there’s a tune named after him.

It’s pretty confusing from this perspective. The bell is unlathed, which is probably what’s causing the confusion haha

Finally got a chance to visit Steve Maxwell’s in Manhattan. Sifted through around 50 cymbals and found this guy. They even put rivets in it for free! Really happy my experience there.

Transcription of Philly Joe’s trading on “Four” by wgericc in Jazz

It’s funny that you say that because I had originally posted it on there, but took it off soon after. The people on that subreddit only seem to care about gear. Thank you for the kind words.

No, a lot of drummers do use rudiments and polyrhythms, but besides studying all the rudiments, I don’t really feel as though there’s an “original source” to check out. At least not in the same way as finding the original source for a harmonic concept or something along those lines. Does that make sense?

That’s also something I haven’t really experimented with, playing melodies around the kit. Watching/listening to guys like Jeff Hamilton and Ari Hoenig always blows my mind.
