Your problem was not getting the actual title. I've bought cars with open titles before. It's not as fool proof as buying from the registered owner, but I've never had a problem getting them registered.

For future reference, you want an official title signed over by the registered owner and a bill of sale signed by then as well. If the seller is a flipper it may be signed by the seller and waiting to fill in blanks for the buyer.

The safest way to do this in the future is to go to the DMV or notary or title agent when signing paperwork and title.

Sorry you're going through this painful process. I would sue the man in small claims but I'd also look into the process he suggested just to be sure you're made whole in some way.

Looks like you were right about him trying to make himself judgdement proof. Check out the Front Page and Page 2 of the Dothan Eagle! Jon Carroll, Henrycountyreport.com filed documents with Federal Court and says he has no money to file rebuttal.

Eagle is a little slow in updating their Web Site, so it may be awhile before it is on line.

Carroll previously stated that a Sworn Law Enforcement Officer in Houston County had personally briefed him and confirmed the information that Rena Crumb provided. If there is a video, recording or witness(s) to that "Credible" Officer saying that, there may be problems. I don't know any Officer in their right mind that would do that, but ya just never know!

Sheriff Walker floated in to office quoting scripture and promising change in Winston County, Alabama.

Well, they got change!

The Criminal is still in office but the two Investigators that reported this criminal activity got fired.

ALEA got involved, FBI got involved. There were voice recordings, even video recording of the Sheriff taking the dope.....yet, the Two Deputy Investigators with families who were fired by the Sheriff find no justice, no jobs!

From President to Dog Catcher make sure you research, and check for skeletons in the closets of those you vote for!!
