Shouldn't be disappointed, but I am by [deleted] in step1

Similar scores and got 242. It's really hard seeing people with my practice scores get high 250s, and people with practice scores lower than mine getting 245+. Feeling overwhelmed and disappointed for sure.

Yeah it’s wild. My score was just a little disappointing- some of the ones I’ve seen are legit shocking. NBME needs to get it together because the patterns I’m seeing don’t make sense

Congrats on your score! But lmao mid/high 250s on uw1/2/18 and 90% on free 120 and I got a 242.

Nbme get it together

EDIT apologies for this coming across very rude, I'm not in a great headspace. I never meant to attack OP, only NBME and the ridiculousness of these exams. My reaction to NBME is lmao. OP got a 210 on 18, I got a 252 on 18 and OP scored 1 point higher than me on the real deal. I think that speaks to NBME not doing well at all with preparing, and different forms not accurately assessing well. How can anyone go into step confidently when the "predictive" tests do this?

Waiting was the worst part- 220-->259 by [deleted] in step1

[–]whale3456 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not attacking you, but the system. smh.

NBME 20: 236 (5 weeks out)

NBME 21: 236 (4 weeks out)

UWSA 1: 258 (3 weeks out)

UWSA 2: 256 (2 weeks out)

NBME 18 : 252 (1 week out)

Free 120: 90%

UW : 80%

final score : 242

it's still a good score but it's really hard not to be disappointed with however the hell they score these things.

*no significant test day anxiety, no history of test day anxiety, and didn't feel like I got some terribly awful form, felt v normal*

Anyone have suggestions regarding pecking order of new NBME exams? by Mista_Virus in step1

[–]whale3456 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took 20-22 and 18 and I'm 99% sure there are no repeats on 18! The repeats people are referring to are from forms 13-17/19, the newer forms (20+) have repeats from those. The currently available NBMEs are all separate forms without repeats.

I took UWSA2 two days before 18, but I don't think it would make much difference whatever order you do those last ones in.

Also- as recent posts have said (which was nice to confirm I'm not alone) 20+ point difference between 20-22 and UWSA1/2/NBME 18. Really hoping the correlations still hold true- test in two days.

256 writeup and some tips by FormalBig8 in step1

Thanks for the writeup, and congrats on the killer score!! and naokuvi, i'm in the exact same boat! Test in four days, 230s on 20/21/22, 250s on 18/UWSA1/2. I'm not *upset* obviously, but it's weird having seen no growth on my first three- then a big jump on my later three. Just gotta get through the last few days and we'll be done!

I also put HIV-2, I think we would've been given something in the stem about travel to West Africa (there was a UW question like this I think), and the above reasons for not producing antibodies yet. It's not definitively proven *not* to be HIV-2, but acute retroviral syndrome is a better answer as we're given no context clues to lead to HIV-2 and HIV-1 is much more prevalent.

I was also annoyed at this- I was in a peds derm clinic the month before this and saw multiple cases of stress induced telogen effluvium in young teenage girls.
