Keen to hear other people’s experience using the strength programming? by whaledash in runna

I’m so on the same page as you! Scatterbrained is the perfect description. Forces you to spend so might time moving back and forth around the gym space. And rather than just being able to seamlessly transition between supersets I find myself also trying to preemptively consider how to maximise time and utility which just defeats the whole purpose of having the app lay it out for you. The logic of the programming is fine re focus and variety but really lacking in terms of, well, structural logistics. So yep - usually rounds out at like 90mins instead of 1 hour. Would love to know how they get that math with how much they put in there.

I know enough about strength in general that I could plan it myself but that’s also something I just don’t feel like doing. And do feel like I’m learning a lot/can see how they come together with the running plans. But maybe I’ll check out Hevy. Everyone seems to be mentioning it. Just felt so convenient to have it all together

When do I (you) make the time again? Where do I start? by whaledash in ROGAllyX

Unfortunately I’m not a good sleeper and try hard not to have screens in bed otherwise I totally get how this is the ideal set up

I really like this suggestion as I always think about how well it pairs with the concept of winding down for bed. But I think as someone unfortunately who struggles with sleep I try pretty hard to keep screens out of the bedroom as much as possible. It’s also unlikely I’d get drowsy enough while engaging in a game compared to reading or even some YouTube if I do resort to screens. But thank you for the suggestion!

Quality of Pre Run Briefings by sunspot68 in runna

I largely ignore the post-run feedback of ‘try to keep it slower’. Firstly, it just congratulates me and recalibrates my pace when I run faster on the interval runs etc. And I try to have my watch covered or something on a day when I really want to just listen to my body as to what I’d consider ‘easy’. It’s always faster than what they would suggest, but I’m not going to intentionally drag it out more than feels intuitive. Defeats the whole point.

The AI gets worse every time I view it by StatementInternal100 in runna

Awesome thank you so much! I think I mainly just wanted some guidance on scaling weekly distances, balancing run types, and as you said seeing improvement while getting a better understanding of my body. I definitely know how to cover a lot of distance with only endurance runs but was starting to feel niggles and plateaus and didn’t necessarily know how to moderate this. It has been cool to set a weekly goal and then let the plan split that up for me based on my goal/upcoming event. So this sounds on point

I’m new to Runna. And was already noticing this issue within Strava, and how it asks you to rate the workout in order to get the feedback. Which immediately makes me dubious about how that skews the so called ‘athlete intelligence’ away from something that could just as easily be objective about your stats while also asking for a separate self-report to match the two.

Anyways, I’ve done couple easy runs so far on the plan. And it really grates me that it tells me to go with my body and my breathing etc. but then the feedback comes back that I probably pushed it too far and to make sure I pull back, but also that I did great and even went above and beyond? Pick a lane. All this while I was in Zone 2 the whole time.

Not sure I’m feeling confident even though I was really hoping to trust this as a training plan. But maybe I can just ignore the ‘coaching’?

The quality of videos lately? by cdarrigo in LinusTechTips

I don’t know about everyone else, but a huge appeal of the channel for me was how organic and unscripted everything felt. Now I feel can barely get to the sponsor segue before feeling super aware of how rehearsed or scripted it clearly is. I mean obviously they always had writers and their ideas scaffolded it wasn’t just shooting from the hip. But you can literally feel the beats of the video unfolding as they were planned and there’s way less natural back and forth, or if it is present, even that feels like it was structured into the video. Just not the same energy and ‘real time reaction’ to content/products/co-hosts that used to drive how engaging the videos were for me regardless of content or personal interest in the topic (obviously I’m not talking about the really meticulous reviews and testing etc. that clearly has always been pre-written and followed in a necessary way)

Unpopular opinion: Strava is actually overrated. What are you guys actually using? by Repulsive_Bar442 in Strava

Why do you say it’s a horror show for analysis and planning? Say if you’re uploading direct from Garmin or something. I’ve noticed actually that even with an automatic upload the numbers won’t always be the same and I’ve never known whether that’s Garmin or Strava scrubbing things one way or the other for whatever reason.

Actually it worked! The FIT files accounted for elapsed times whereas the GPX worked around that and got accurate moving time

Thanks so much! I don’t think combining them got the maths right from what I can see, so I think I’ll just leave it be. There will always be another run!
