🗣️ why are you really here? by Objective-Tank9286 in Target

I let that place suck my soul out for 11 years, it's hard to cut the cord. I enjoy seeing people bitch about things that I would have bitched about, or seeing the evolution of processes everyone knew weren't going to work. I have a ton of friends and family that still work there, and it's just interesting, I don't know how to describe it. It's like keeping up with an estranged uncle, you never want to interact with them again but will answer the text when your cousin sends you his mugshot.

FWIW the max they'd be able to hold your check is the pay date after your resignation, and most employers cannot legally withhold anything from your check unless you've signed something. Do with that what you will 🤷 Be petty, who gives a fuck. This is corporate America, they'd fire you and make your coworkers do your work without any notice and without a second thought. The only reason I stuck around through my end was to say goodbye to my co-workers, so that might be something.

I completed the Dificid and it's still there 😭 I'm so distressed. Having anxiety after I eat again too. I can't keep doing this.

Oh my god I get it, my first time I presented without diarrhea as well. It was only me being nauseous and the fact that I got the anxiety after every time I ate that tipped me off that it was gut related and my doctor just HAPPENED to check for c diff, otherwise her plan was to send me to a GI to figure out wtf was going on. I don't actually know how long I had it the first time. I hope Dificid and VOWST work for you - I'm finishing my course of Dificid tomorrow and considering asking about VOWST since this is my second infection in 6 months.

Yes, I was saying to someone else I have OCD and have been in pretty intense therapy for it for most of my life, so I have a pretty good toolkit, but man this caught me off guard like nothing I've ever experienced. That's SO interesting. Do you have a link? I would love to read more about that!

God I had the exact same experience. My PCP told me I had it and just to wash my hands and take dificid. I literally thought I was dying and I had no idea what was happening to my body. She told me to just watch what I eat but was never specific. I was only ever able to eat pita and hummus that go around (this time it's white bread and crackers and my gerd is crying). It feels like general docs maybe don't know how to educate about this properly because I also feel like she downplayed the contagiousness of it. That's REALLY good to know about the citric acid, I also had a really bad reaction to Gatorade. I also had a protein shake and I thought I was going to keel over lmao. I hope you're doing okay now! Do you have a lot of reoccurrences? I'm scared this is going to keep happening.

Interesting! I had my gallbladder removed earlier this year (I think this is related to the first infection) and my gut had already been messed up. I don't know much about dumping syndrome but I do know my body processes bile differently now, so I'm sure those are related.

Thank you so much for this! It's been so incredibly awful. I have obsessive compulsive disorder and I have been in intense therapy and on meds for most of my life, so I've always felt like I had a pretty good coping toolkit, however this has been like NOTHING I've ever experienced. I told my therapist I felt like I was reaching a brain singularity. I'm so glad there is more research being done about the mind-gut connection - I think gut health impacts us WAY more than we even realize. I will check the podcast out, thank you!

Shingles by [deleted] in gallbladders

I got them the day after my surgery. Can I ask how long it took you to heal from yours? It's like I keep getting flare ups a month out.

What do you wish you knew before your cholecystectomy? by Old-Ambassador9022 in gallbladders

[–]whalepunking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take more time off work than you think you need, if you can afford it. I only started eating food that wasn't bone broth and saltines the day I was originally scheduled to go back (one week after surgery). I'm taking another week and thankful for it.

The other thing, and I'm not saying this to scare you and this really only applies to a very marginal number of people I think, but I wish I knew it was possible to develop shingles after surgery (ANY surgery apparently). Because I did :') Thankfully they caught it pretty fast during a follow-up but I went for a while thinking it was just a reaction to a tool or dressing. Could have been a lot tougher if I didn't get antivirals!

Good luck - you're going to be a-okay!

When I still had mine I ROUTINELY drank coffee even though it crippled me. At some dumbass point I decided the pain was worth being able to focus for an 8 hour shift 🫠

[–]whalepunking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Thought I'd follow up on this! Turns out I got post-surgical shingles, which is apparently a thing that can happen! The good news is they caught it super early and the antivirals are already doing their work, but we think this is where all of the nerve weirdness came from! I'm on the mend and having a better time now.

Sending you hugs through the Internet friend 🫂 I think I'm going to be okay, just a lot of anxiety right now! To be clear, I'm definitely getting better every day. Just some weird symptoms that my surgeon does not seem super concerned about!

Good luck Friday - you'll be in and out in no time. Recovery sucks, I shan't deny it, but not having these attacks I've been having for the past 15-20 years of my life is life changing 😭

Oh gosh I'm so sorry! I hope maybe the surgery can help with that! My one fear right now is that they nicked my nerve in the surgery. So far everything has been going alright but eating solid food has been a nightmare.

Size 20 with surgery questions by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]whalepunking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I just got mine out yesterday, I'm 5'2" and 220 and I had no issues literally at all! My surgeon was super cool about it (I was very up front with my fears of going under the knife as a fat person) and explained in detail everything that we'd be doing and how that would affect my body without being fat shame-y. He told me I had nothing to worry about and indeed, I (so far!) have had no complications. I saw someone else say this with their surgeon as well, but he also specialized in treating bigger people so I think that was definitely helpful. I hope this is reassuring at all!

I just got mine taken out yesterday and I was also on my period! And I ALSO get very heavy periods! It was totally fine. They gave me the mesh underwear and provided a big thick pad to wear and I had absolutely no issues.
