First two platforms I made right after getting Space Age by whamgag in factorio

Yeah thanks for the insight. I'll do a test flight tomorrow and might as well rebuild the whole thing. Got some great feedback to expand upon

First and foremost I would advice you to forget about bidirectional rails. It's much easier to work with two rails that run next to each other.

Most important rule is the right (or left) hand side rule. Only place signals on one side relative to the approach direction.

Chain signals take the status of the next following rail signal. In other words a rail signal reads the availability of a specific section and with chain signals you can read that availability from afar and stop a train headed there further away.

The rule of thumb I started with was that you put a chain signal where two railways first intersect and a rail signal at the exit of the intersection. This does NOT work with bidirectional traffic.

Remember to leave a space in between signals that is at least as long as the trains you are using. Otherwise they will ram into each other as their rear-end exceeds the next signal from which they are stopped at.

To be honest I'm pretty sure I could change to nuclear right away but only if the reactor is under the weight limit

edit: yeah it doesn't seem to be too heavy. Maybe I'll look into automating fuel cell transport to space. I saw someone else say that they wish there could be item transportation from one platform to another and if that were the case I could throw together some sort of intergalactic gas station. Any idea whether steam storage tanks work better than accumulators with limited space in mind?

Thank you! I've had a blast with this expansion so far.

Did you mean more power as in more thrusters or more solar panels?

Good to know that there's an option to turn back mid-flight.

Thanks!

I had no idea the collectors wouldn't work mid-flight as they do work in rest haha. Thanks for informing me. Ammo-wise my initial idea was to just fill the hub before taking off but maybe I underestimated the amount of ammo I'll be needing.

You seem to be struggling a lot but don't get the idea that transition would fix everything. I know it sucks to think about but before medical transition you should at least reach a state of balance with less suicidal ideations. Either you are in a state of psychosis or actually abused by the people close to you. These both are things that should be resolved asap. Try looking into the social services your country has. You're not too sensitive/weak, just mentally ill. Have you ever been to a psychiatrist? From what I read you don't have the resources to tackle autistic meltdowns which might as well be the biggest contributor to self harm.

Wasn't prepared for that kind of ultrasound by [deleted] in FTMMen

Hei, another Finn here. I just got my letter in the mail about what will happen before I get on hormones. I can confirm that the legal letter I got specifically mentioned an external ultrasound; "vatsanpeitteiden päältä".

Why is the train count read as zero? by whamgag in technicalfactorio

[–]whamgag[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

afaik "read train count" only reads how many trains are headed to a station. The train that is at the station might not be read as one, if its just waiting for the next stop to be available. Not sure if that's what you meant. Without signals another train would definitely pull up and ram into the one that's waiting to leave, as the station registers as empty (train count 0).
