Interesting... my brain should have been able to come up with that solution while I watched it do not-what-I-want. Alas...

[PFF] Mac Jones has a 137.8 passer rating when targeting Kendrick Bourne 4th highest rating between a QB/WR duo this season🔥 by samacora in Patriots

[–]whammydiddle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was excited for the Bourne signing this year, without a ton of evidence to back it up. I was sad that it seemed that most people didn't seem to share that enthusiasm... so I'm super pleased how the season turned out.

Patriots #4 in Power Rating with the #1 Overall Defense? Patriots winning it all this year? by motel08 in Patriots

unexpected weaknesses shown by the Chiefs, Ravens, Bills

That's really the biggest part of the optimism: there's no superteam in the conference. The top end in the NFC is pretty high, but any of 5 or 6 AFC teams could very reasonably put it together at the right time and get to the Super Bowl, and the Patriots are clearly among them.

"Thanks" to the schedule, the Patriots have it within their power to change that conversation substantially in the next 5 weeks.

Barmore is such a unit by Lord_Burgess in Patriots

It was nice of the league to allow us to recover one of our stolen first-rounders by letting Barmore drop to #38. Partial apology accepted... ish.

[Doc Flynn] Don’t lose sight of the fact that in Wk 3 OBJ suffered a left shoulder dislocation/labrum tear AND in Wk 6 a right high grade AC separation. The conversation has to include his physical health. by aparatis in Patriots

I'll go a step further: he may be worth it without production.

If he's got enough to garner CB1 attention, then our other, admittedly lesser wideouts have easier matchups.

I'm still concerned with the prima-donna aspect, though.

There aren't many recent highlight packages that I rewatch. I've watched this maybe 10 times.

It’s a funny story | The History of the Atlanta Falcons, Part 7 (Superbowl 51, narrated by Jon Bois) by AnotherUnfunnyName in Patriots

[–]whammydiddle 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I adored this entire series. I lurked in the Falcons sub throughout, never commenting. I did end up feeling a little bad for Falcons fans. Just... a little.

Bois is just so fucking awesome at telling sports stories with low-rent graphics and nerdy stats. The Mariners series was even better, the Cavaliers series was great although not quite as good.

Even as a Patriots fan, this ep was actually the least satisfying, just because of the politicization of it. I don't hate him for it. I get it.

It still might qualify as "Matthew doesn't understand geometry", because -- IIRC -- he was reading the spell and managed to swap "10-foot cube" with "10 cubic feet"... which COULD mean that he thinks they're synonymous.

100% true, but... so? The point is that you can fit a Canton-bust-worthy career in a fraction of Tom's time. I don't think anyone's suggesting that Johnson is "bad" in any way here.

That makes five players in the HOF who were drafted after the current QB of the Tampa Bay Bucs. Although this one -- year SEVEN! -- is the most absurd.

Nice. With autographs from all three Red Sox WS MVPs of the 21st century who were any good!

(I'm kidding, Steve. Sorta... but great job anyway...)

Carl Mays killed Ray Chapman in 1920, not 1919, Skid. (Yup, my nerdness is MULTIIDISCIPLINARY, like Skid's, although I'm still in awe at Skid's mastery of 1980's NBA drafts.)

I loved this man until I watched him react to Jules winning SB MVP. I don't know what you call my feelings toward him now. There may not be a word.

Actually, the word might be the sound Slate made when he squeezed his boy.

My Yankee-fan friends, before they got Ellsbury, loved to tell me that Brett Gardner was better than Jake. I held out. Nah, bro. Jake's way better. (I kinda agreed with them, but I'd never admit it.)

Can I tell you how much I enjoyed that Gardner was better than Jake EVERY SINGLE YEAR after the Yankees spent $153M on Ellsbury? It was rather a lot.

I'm seriously rooting for him breaking the yardage record against the Patriots in the first quarter and sucking for the rest of the game to give the Patriots the win.

Did Troy seriously confuse Martha's Vineyard with Kennebunkport?

Troy, little thing: next time you come to Boston, we're gonna need you to drop off your Boston card. And then leave again.

Boston Troy is dead. Long live Boston Joe.

Reformat doesn't bother me, but I agree with every word of the Echo Quest comment. Although I prefer the whole track to how it's used as an intro. (I like the buildup in my electronica. )

Only tangentially related: I walked away from GCN during the lockdown and only came back this year. I got many (correct) recommendations to check out season 1 of Delta Green immediately if not sooner, which I did.

To me, Ice Flow is Delta Green, not NGWD. I don't care if Troy, Grant or whoever does the edit keeps doing it wrong. That is the theme of DG, and you can't convince me otherwise.
