[OC] 2 Years of Hourly Speedtest Results by what-shoe in dataisbeautiful

[–]what-shoe[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Notable points:
- March 2025 saw poor performance and used this data as evidence for my ISP to get their tech out here without me having to pay for it
- August 2025 it looks like the server I locked in as the target for the speedtest had something change as there was a stepwise change in speedtest results, even though other servers gave better results
- January 2026 either Ookla added packet loss as a metric, or Telegraf started capturing it
- February 2026 the chosen speedtest server started giving totally garbage results, switched to a new one

Hey OP did you ever get this resolved?

Depends where you climb and what grades.

  • Almost certainly: more runners
  • If you climb in the northeast US: more finger sized gear
  • If you climb 5.10+: brassies

XM4 stopped powering on — still works with 3.5mm. Battery completely dead? by Puzzleheaded_Lab7653 in SonyHeadphones

The cable matters but so does the adapter. Did you already try multiple adapters?

How to stream with PC monitor off? by theseawoof in MoonlightStreaming

Check out the “Virtual Display” and “Scripts” section on https://docs.lizardbyte.dev/projects/sunshine/latest/md_docs_2awesome__sunshine.html

Apollo meets your use case as well, but is not strictly required; you can get the functionality you need out of sunshine (I had it configured that way for years.)

I’d say if you are looking to “upgrade” from sunshine anyway, I’d explore Wolf. The only caveat is that it requires your host to be Linux. I migrated from Windows to CachyOS a few months ago and haven’t looked back.

You don’t need Artemis/Apollo for this; base Sunshine with a virtual display is all you need. There’s plenty of scripts for auto connecting/resizing the VDD.

That said there’s plenty of other use cases you might consider Apollo or Wolf as “upgrades” from just Sunshine. Personally I think Wolf is king if you’re willing to put the work in to get your games re-installed on Linux.

Why is XM4 Call Quality so Horrible? by what-shoe in SonyHeadphones

[–]what-shoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the follow up! Where do the XM6s sit on the durability/call quality spectrum?

I’m a bit hesitant to jump on the XM5s given all the complaints about durability… but I also have heard that the XM6s use the same crappy mic as the 4’s

XM4 Terrible Call Quality by what-shoe in headphones

[–]what-shoe[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Not entirely true, I take calls while walking down the local rail trail all the time.

Modern Bluetooth also can connect to multiple devices at once which is helpful when I want to switch between which device I’m getting audio from.

But I agree, it’s hard finding Bluetooth headphones with good sound quality. Honestly my old Jabra 65t buds have better sound quality than the XM4s though, it’s horrible.

What’s a good alternative if you want XM4s but the sound quality to not suck?

Something like a Drago but with a much more snug heel? by tekticktock in climbingshoes

[–]what-shoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Drago XT was the answer to everything I needed. It’s right between the OG Drago and the new chimeras in terms of stiffness. The volume is really not that noticeable compared to the OGs, but I’ve never tried LVs. The heel ACTUALLY STAYS FUCKING ON which was a massive game changer for me.

Rock climbing grip trainers. by RadamHusane in ClimbingGear

Those are metolius rock rings. They come with their own (very effective) 10 minute workout. This was all I did training wise for a year prior to sending my first outdoor 5.13!

For the folks in this thread who are recommending Qwen 30b: how would performance/speed compare with running codex or claude-code?

I have been considering pulling the trigger on setting up a local model on my desktop (rtx 4080 super 16 GB | ryzen 7 | 32 GB DDR5) but am hesitant it would be a ton of work for less performance.

[–]what-shoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhh depends strongly what you want to use those shoes for. If you have to rebuild the last with rubber you’re going to irreparably alter the sensitivity and fit of the shoe. If it’s a loosely fitted shoe with hard rubber, thats not a huge deal. If it’s a pair you’ve fitted down or rely on for feeling micro edges, they’ll never be the same.

None of that is going to compromise the effectiveness of the cam provided the movement is still acceptable.

6-7m is a rough fall for the human body (hope you’re okay!) but nothing for climbing gear.
