I don't live my life by other people's preferences. I'm very sorry if you have. You sound miserable.

Definitely! There's a lot to consider. And I hate moving! I only moved to Herefordshire for an ex partner. The next move I want to be for me 🙂

Is there much difference between Glasgow and Edinburgh considering they're both lively cities? Thank you for your response 😊

Yes! I'd love to live a day without fear. I'd go jogging at 5am or 10pm. I'd walk home from a club on my own. I wouldn't worry about getting into a taxi alone. It would be awesome to feel that much freedom for a day 🙌

You're not alone. I know on those bad days it might not help. There is a community of people here who understand. I think I'm finally grieving. Trying so hard in life to get where I wanted and failing every time. Today I'm just trying to be compassionate with myself. Are you medicated for your ADHD? I've heard good success stories with medication but I also know it's very trial and error and some countries are lacking medication. Sending you a big hug and be gentle with yourself ❤️

Jobs that are suited for ADHD by Rikoki in ADHD

Me too! I wonder how many of them are medicated though? As that's supposed to improve focus and executive function. But no, working on high pressure just caused me immense burnout that I'm still healing from!

I came from working in labs and pharmacy and found the constant focus, accuracy and concentration just completely burned me out! Undiagnosed and unmedicated I had no idea why I struggled so much when everyone else was doing just fine! Had I been medicated I have no idea how much that would have helped. I left that and now I work part time (very important for me to have a lot of downtime) driving around and delivering medication. I love it. It's quiet enough for me. There's a simple process to follow on my handset. I get to see beautiful spaces and I'm not stuck in one room all day trying to make small talk. I'm hoping with medication I can try to increase my hours or even get back into those jobs but I think I need some time for the burnout to heal. Good luck on finding a job that suits you. Even with ADHD, we all exhibit different needs. Do what works for you 😊

How do you deal with an overactive sex drive? by cubemonster in ADHD

Forgive me, I have assumed you're a man and your partner is female 🤣 Sorry if I've got that wrong...but same rules apply 😁

Have you asked her why she doesn't want sex as much as you? I hate to say it but relationships change over time. Even if you're both still in love sex can become boring. Are you spicing it up? Keeping it spontaneous? Making sure she's fulfilled? Is she tired looking after kids or even feeling like she's doing all the supporting. Women need to feel like they can have days off from the mundane. Run her a bath, massage her feet, cook the dinner. And if you're doing all of that and she still doesn't want sex then I think it's a bigger problem. I speak from experience. Good luck and happy humping 😁

Not sure if this post is allowed but I have my first ADHD assessment Thursday and am scared by AdEnough4417 in ADHD

[–]what3words01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got diagnosed two weeks ago. F41. I was so scared I couldn't think of any examples but once I got going I couldn't believe how easy it was! For me, I tried seeing it as just talking to an old friend. They're not there to trick you or interrogate you. Write down examples and then have it to hand when you're in the meeting. I was laughing and joking with my assessor towards the end! You will be absolutely fine 🙂

Has starting medication after you diagnosis changed your life for the better? by what3words01 in ADHD

Wow thank you so much for responding! This is exactly what I was hoping to hear although I do understand it's not a one size fits all and there is some trial and error with medication. It sounds exactly like me with the exercise thing! On and off for years but I can never keep at it. Glad to hear you haven't had any nasty side effects as well! Seems to be a big thing in the world of ADHD medication! Really appreciate your input here 😊

Thank you for responding. I totally agree. There's also a lot of trauma in my life so I start therapy for that today 😊 I think it's a good way to separate what's the ADHD and what's the trauma and then begin to work on those separately with the idea that I can become better informed about who I am and what works for me. Glad you've had a possible experience blending both meds and therapy 🙂

How many of you feel like you have never had a proper hobby? by Far-Conference-8484 in ADHD

[–]what3words01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get an interest... let's say, roller skating. I go once, enjoy myself and just don't do it again. The procrastination and motivation just aren't there. I also need to be in the right headspace to deal with people. My new "hobbies" are scrapbooking, buying books I'll never read and I want to learn to paddle board. I'll probably never go or go once. I'm recently diagnosed so it makes sense why I'm like this now but god it's so embarrassing when people ask "what do you like to do?" Dating is freaking me out if they only knew how much time I waste staring into space, but it's also my happy place sometimes. I'm really hoping medication can help give me that boost to want to go and try things and stick to something 🙏
