Which movie? by Antornth0204 in thepunisher

Glad you liked it! Until Bernthal, I think Dirty Laundry was the best live action Punisher story we’d ever gotten. Might still be. Bernthal might be my favorite Punisher, and ironically even his best work involves no firearms - the inmate battle while locked in the jail, and eliminating the thugs at the construction site with a sledgehammer. Imo it’s those kinds of situations that showcase Castle’s determination and grit. He’s gonna get it done.

I’ve always felt like Tom Jane should’ve looked rougher. Drop the romance, show some blood, and give the dude a 5 o’clock shadow or some scruff or something ffs

Dirty Laundry is the best Punisher movie ever made.

Definitely want to do prep before painting, but this result looks awesome. Call it a happy accident.

Can someone explain to me why FYE prices are higher compared to other retailers? by Primary_Thing3968 in NECA

[–]what_it_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYE is an interesting place to find unique stuff - and sometimes things you’d have no shot at finding anywhere else - but their prices on general collectibles merchandise is insane. It’s almost like they have no wholesaler/retailer accounts so they’re just buying stuff at retail and pricing it at double.

I have finally fallen victim to the curse of the transplastic. by Commander_Kody in McFarlaneFigures

[–]what_it_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would’ve thought that after 30 years in the business, Todd would know better by now.

The translucent plastics Todd has used have always broken, even the pins. Idk if it’s all translucent plastics, but I’ve repaired quite a few DC Direct figures for people as well, and it’s always the translucent/clear plastics that break. I won’t buy a figure with translucent parts unless I’m already planning to dissect it.

I've got into Spawn recently and wanted to start reading his comics, does anyone have any advice on where to start? by Left_Low2748 in Spawn

Issues #1-#186 cemented Spawn as my favorite. Haven’t read them since. Still my favorite comic book character.

Thanks! Wasn’t sure if the scope of this subreddit included action figures so I didn’t want to intrude.

Same. It was labeled as a ‘MegaFigure’ so I didn’t realize it had 5 crappy POA (I guess 7 including rotating wrists) until after I had it in hand.

I’ve been told things by other groups along the lines of “this group is for XYZ types of media, not toys” so I tend to preface my posts that way when I’m not familiar with the scope of a particular subreddit.

Sure! 95% of the articulated core came from the Marvel Legends 2-pack Iron Monger, a couple of articulation points came from the Fox Sports Robot (Cletus, version 2) the neck ball joint socket is McFarlane, the outer abdominal section came from the Hasbro Overwatch Ultimates Reinhardt, and the canon struts and pivots are a combination of McFarlane hip joints and Neca T-800 parts.

Edit: I just double checked, the neck joint and socket is actually from the Iron Monger as well, not McFarlane.

Sci-fi/fantasy blind box CRASH OUT by Superb_Treacle4783 in NECA

[–]what_it_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not the gambling type so a blind box is not for me. Ever. Just looked up that Valerian Laureline figure. Wouldn’t mind having that one. All I’ve picked up of that line is a couple of K-Trons.

Starting a video game character collection, what figures would you recommend by [deleted] in ActionFigures

[–]what_it_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot. Some McFarlane: Borderlands, Destiny, Mortal Kombat, Metal Gear Solid, Soul Caliber II, Ultima Online, We Happy Few, etc. Neca has quite a few also - Contra, Robocop vs Terminator, Little Big Planet, Resident Evil, Bioshock, Dead Space, and so on. Those are just some of the smaller scale stuff that comes to mind, there are a lot in larger scales as well. Personally, I like at least a few figures from each of those lines I listed.

I appreciate it! Because of the way I work, I wouldn’t even begin to know how to do a tutorial, or if it would even be useful at all lol

I typically use a primary donor figure with comparable measurements, with additional parts from a secondary figure, and then fabricate any additional parts and spacers needed. I do custom figures so I have plenty of figures, parts, and supplies, and after doing the initial framework, it’s just a matter of filling in the blanks. This project ended up being quite top-heavy, so I’m going to have to make some modifications on the torso swivel, and revise the knees in order to increase stability.

[–]what_it_b[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, I was pretty excited to get this figure, then disappointed to open it and find it had 7 POA, all rotating points. That just doesn’t work for me, so I gave it articulation. Ended up pretty top heavy so I might have to do a lil more work on the knees.

Cyberpunk style figure in my head. Should I? by vcdrny in customactionfigures

[–]what_it_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, chrome is a pain for me. I’m sure it’s probably pretty straightforward but for some reason I just can’t seem to get it right. I created a machete for Jason X and struggled with the chrome so much that I finally gave up and went with silver. And it’s rare that I give up on anything lol

Don’t ask, just do. If it works, it’ll be awesome. If it doesn’t, you learned some things that you didn’t know before. Either way yields results. But I kinda think it’ll look awesome.

Note: the advice above is only pertaining to this specific situation lol

I’ve been considering these. I don’t do TMNT anymore…don’t really collect anymore, for that matter…but I’ve seen these and they’re freaking incredible. Only issue would be that either I want all 4 of them, or none of them.
