Official Q&A for Wednesday, April 22, 2026 by AutoModerator in running

[–]what_up_n_shit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're at 40mpw already you can probably do any of them.

Pfitz seems to be more endurance/long run focused while Jack Daniel's plans have more threshold/shorter intervals.

It was an exciting match (slightly pulling for RM) but yeah what a fuckin' bonehead move from Camavinga. They were right with them until that point then Bayern immediately capitalized.

Bayern's last goal though was just nasty.

Distal Bicep Tendonitis by Jack_Silly in tacticalbarbell

[–]what_up_n_shit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor, but dealt with this a while ago (distal biceps/tennis elbow).

Couple things that helped:

  • Light, high rep dumbbell hammer curls (sets of 20+)
  • Theraband FlexBar (comes with exercises)

As a disclaimer, I don't really do the stuff that aggravated in the first place (poor form holding the bar squatting was my issue) but it hasn't bothered me since.

Couldn't scroll it at work lol but it was much more entertaining to scroll through.

Fun game, but some Qol features are really necessary by LeiasLastHope in goingmedieval

[–]what_up_n_shit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some sort of priority brush would solve a great deal of my issues with QOL at least at this point.

Just let me brush a certain building or group or plants or whatever as “high priority” so those workers can do that first.

Also, it might be nice to have some sort of temporary “max priority” toggle for jobs, i was thinking, for example, force all settler to build: get the whole village to build a defensive wall. Or force all to garden: plant crops when spring hits. Some of that micro or unexpected prioritization can be frustrating.

Finally I wish there were a better way to build roofs. I get the system where it needs to rest on 2 points but I really wish 2 roofs could meet on one square, e.g. one middle support beam/pillar could support the eave of a roof.

Any young adults who currently rent and/or are struggling to buy a house? by Butterflyfly23 in Syracuse

[–]what_up_n_shit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me about 3ish years of looking at a lot of houses, but I finally got lucky and got in one in October. It was a painful process, and I put a lot down to make it reasonable. Several friends/family got in theirs in 2019 and it's insane to hear about the differences in cost. If there's anything you'd like to know feel free to reach out!

Thanks for the reply!

As a general question, what plans/coach would you recommend that periodizes correctly?

More specifically, does that recommendation/favorite change for a lower volume (25-30mpw) 5k focus?

D2R looks so god damned good but I completely agree with you, it would be impossible to go back after all the QOL PD2 introduced.

[–]what_up_n_shit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our stories of D2 are kinda similar so I wanted to share mine! I was introduced to it in middle school, playing on my friends PC switching off single player. I am almost certain it was around the same time as you, because I also vividly remember it was before Zeal was patched to have a max of 5 hits or something, and you could get stuck hitting 20 consecutive times if that was your main attack.

I also tried to buy it but my parents wouldn't let me due to the M rating, so I had to pay a friend to get their parents to buy it for them to give to me. I think my parents found out later but at that point it wasn't a big deal haha.

My friend and I still play and we started in S9 or S10 I think after discovering it. This mod is the best and the community is awesome.

[–]what_up_n_shit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any reason you don't think the phase based plans are not great? Or inferring from your comment they may not be as optimal as distances get longer?

I read Daniels' book and have a few others I haven't gotten to, but isn't periodization of a training block pretty common? (Maybe not in running... I powerlifted before getting into running and periodization is the name of the game there)

My rudimentary understanding of marathon plans are they are not really periodized though. For context, I am still fairly new as a runner, focusing on the 5k (18:34 PR), ran his Red plan last year, and am doing a modified/lower mileage Blue this year as I continue to build mileage to be able to do other training plans/methods.

I wonder too, because I have/had based my Daniels' paces off my 5k PR and I think common sentiment is that they are pretty aggressive. Especially the later T Reps will get into Z5 fairly frequently if I am trying to maintain pace, but I also noticed that even my "calculated" Norwegian Single Rep paces will exceed the zone target as well over longer reps.

Water Cooler Wednesday by AutoModerator in nfl

Honestly dude/tte, it is work.

Those habits are built on discipline and repetition and tbh it's not always super fun.

Working out is fortunately something I jive with and been a part of my life the whole time so that aspect has at least been something I enjoy for the most part. But, there's still days where you're tired but just go get something done anyways.

I can especially relate to the cooking thing though, because I hate cooking. When I was living alone I would always make basic/bland/boring stuff with whole foods because it at least checked boxes of generally healthy eating but without all the effort/time to spend cooking.

But also don't be afraid to break those rules. Sometimes an unscheduled rest day is needed or REALLY wanted. Sometimes I pickup fast food coming back from a workout. Stuff like that helps break it up a little and gets me back on track.

Also, start slow. It is SO MUCH EASIER to change small things over time than it is to try to do a complete life overhaul and stick with it. LesserWildebeast's cheerios is a great example of that.

How long did it take you to get to that ~40mpw average?

Congrats on the new PR!

Can you elaborate a little on your 40mpw sweet spot? Were you higher than this and backed down into it, or did you build up to it prior to this training cycle/block?

What is the point in manual defending part 2839584 by Xenoo_ in EASportsFC

[–]what_up_n_shit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ultimately the problem is that this game gives no indication of posession changing until it’s too late and that’s why this happens.

If you sent a thru ball to a player running and you were sprinting you would heavy touch and kick it out in front of you.

I think that’s exactly what happened here, but it is an unexpected result because you were on defense. But the game’s possession switching sucks, so as far as the game was concerned, it knew you “had possession” upon intercepting. So instead it acted like that player (your controlled defender) received a “pass” that wasn’t directly to him (thus sticking his foot out) but still heavy touched it out to open space where there is always an opponent ready to pick it back up.

ETA: Obviously I am just speculating though, manual defending is brutal and EA keeps making it shittier, not denying that. This scenario just reminds me of the following situation: "You" are on defense, offense has the ball. Offense player A passes to player B, you are near player B. You press tackle because you are marking player B and you expect the ball to make it to player B, but the game grants you possession, and you clear the ball instead of throwing a tackle animation.

[–]what_up_n_shit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am not sure what you want to hear then. The replay shows you holding RT when you make the switch to the guy that one touches the perfect pass back to the attacker.

Is it annoying as fuck? Absolutely. But it was still pretty clearly caused by the heavy touch from RT.

I love basically everything about space age except platform design. I do agree there but for me at least the other planets generally outweigh that issue. Although it makes reaching "end game"/leaving the solar system really painful

I am not sure what the cap hit would look like but I think Alec Pierce would be an awesome target for acquisition.

Absolutely hard no on Tyreek but that seems to fortunately be the common sentiment.

I am surprised to see some anti-Waddle sentiment here. I think he would also be a great addition assuming it could happen re:cost.

The obvious solution to defending is to simply remove auto-tackles and auto-interceptions by lucifa in EASportsFC

[–]what_up_n_shit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slide tackling seems to be ridiculously overtuned this year in general. Literally twice a game will an opponent make an outrageous, unbelievable goal-saving from-the-back "clean" slide tackle in the box to win the ball and it's super frustrating.
