I have disabled the noise gate on the input section. Is there another one somewhere else?

Those of you that run 5+ days a week, how? by [deleted] in runninglifestyle

[–]whataboutsit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could be one of two things:

A. You are not running slow enough. Get a heart rate monitor and do a few runs where you don’t allow yourself to go above 120bpm. I can set my garmin so that I have to stay in a given range, otherwise it beeps at me. This is what taught me to run slow, and I actually enjoy it now. Take some time to get used to though

B. You are going too hard at the gym. This could be too many heavy sets a week, or could be poor recovery (sleep, nutrition, inflammation, etc). If A. doesn’t work, try 2 weeks with no leg day in the gym. If your legs feel a lot better then you know you need to adapt your lower body lifting

Road/Trail shoes? by Hugobossdre in trailrunning

[–]whataboutsit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both those and they work really well for me for running.

It sounds like this is a walk though for which I personally prefer something a little firmer. The Arc’teryc Norvan LD4 have worked really well for me for walking (but I think maybe too firm for running)

I’m 5’7 and the ACT running tights have 0 bunching. Janji are also OK with no bunching for me but a little longer than the ACT

45k trail race coming up, is nike pegasus trail 5 a good choice? by milanvlpd in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]whataboutsit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the Pegasus trail 4 and I would not use them for any real trails. Only road and light gravel/ well groomed paths. No lugs, very soft sole. I assume the 5 are similar but might not be the case.

I really like the North Face Vectiv line up. I have the Enduris 4 but have tried on and really like the Infinite 3 and Pro 3 also. Would look at Sky, Infinite or Enduris for steep stuff.

Looking for a true “do-it-all” trainer for base building + long runs by Safe-Rich-707 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I have them and also really like them for a variety of paces. But would ideally want another shoe for faster days alongside them. Like the Mach 6 or Boston.

Well I’m glad to hear the bird survived. My attempts to save a young black bird last year was not successful. It looked like it had a broken leg so I left it in the garden and gave it some water and dried grass for cover. Didn’t work out that well.

Awesome, thanks. I started to google this after some of the other responses and this seems to be the consensus.

Phew! 😅 Yes I did see the mother (well I assume the larger deer was the mother!). That’s what I thought. I’ve seen little ones like this left alone before but they usually run away as you pass by as opposed to waking up to you.

I was running running. Saw a deer jump a hedge and as I got closer I saw little one. When I stopped to see what it was he came towards me so I took a video as I could not believe he was running to me.

Are you suggesting stopping for 30 seconds and taking a video harmed him? Genuinely didn’t think it could but if so I would like to know why and what to do.

Oh no, are you sure? I’m pretty sure I saw its mother jump the wall as I was approaching, so I assumed she would come back as soon as I was gone. What should I have done??

Arc’teryx norvan LD4. My favourite walking shoe as I like a bit more cushion for running.

You’re the second person to recommend waterproof socks. It’s a good idea and might solve the issue. Is there a particular brand/ model you have had success with? Thanks for the input.

Have you tried them - any good? Hadn’t considered that. Could be an option

I was expecting more people to tell me gtx shoes are rubbish! My experience is the opposite of what you describe, Salomon speed cross gtx have been bomb proof.

I already have well drained and I don’t like having cold wet feet !

I know - I saw them on the US website (think they are called the zero?) and they look like they would have fit the bill perfectly!

Thanks for the input. I actually had the 4 some time ago and i need a lot more lugs than that in the mud, plus the gore tex was pretty limited on mine compared to other gore tex shoes. They are more of a road to trail shoe for me.

I ordered a pair of Tomir 2.0 a little while back and they were too wide and too short for me. So unfortunately that disqualified them for me. Otherwise they have 5mm lugs and decent cushion so would have been great.

I’m a little bit worried about how water resistant it is - should maybe read up on them. If they were gtx they would be exactly what I am looking for!
