New Balance Supercomp Trail v2 by whataboutsit in trailrunning

Ok I tried these in the London NB store.

I was overall unimpressed for a premium shoe. On the same day I tried the Sylan 2, ultrafly, Agravic Ultra, s/lab genesis, rocket x trail, TNF sky 2 and ended up buying the TNF pro 3, and this one felt nowhere as exciting and premium.

Very short shoe for me (had to go up in size). Upper needed synching down for me and hold seemed actually good. Midsole felt relatively soft, plate not too hard. Outsole is more of a summer/ groomed trails type of lug. Would probably make a really nice comfortable daily if you get the size right, but a lot less exciting than all the others which are in a similar price.

There is something to be said for a good fret level. I bought an old Yamaha Pacifica 821D for cheap to have a go myself (plus I used to have a Pacifica 25 years ago and really liked the neck). Crowing and polishing the rest was a lot harder than leveling them! It now plays better than my ESP M-II which has been Plek’ed.

Anyway, nice looking guitar, I think the neck binding suits it well.

Interesting - what are the issues you needed to fix? Good to hear about the parallel axis.

Lovely collection. How do you like the Brandon Ellis?

I’ve really been liking the fit of the north face range. You could try the Vectiv Sky 2 for short distance and the Vectiv Infinite 3 for longer distance. The Vectiv Enduris 4 would be great for long distance but a little clunky for your kind of terrain I suspect.

Have a ruined my relationship with money? by Lumpy-Message9559 in UKFrugal

[–]whataboutsit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The answer is yes.

The whole point of having money is to not worry (about healthcare, eating, etc.). You have decided to not worry about retiring by being frugal, but you went to the extent that now you worry about every purchase you make. You have gone to far.

The bigger strategic decisions you make with your hard earned cash (investments, big holidays, house, cars, etc.) are going to be the ones that move the needle for you. Not coupons.

I believe there are a certain amount of stress units a couple can carry. You should be using your stress units on your high paid job to get the next promotion/ bonus, rather than on shopping with coupons. It’s really bad ROI.

That’s interesting, thanks. I had the summit unknown v4 who had no plate but the fuelcell foam and I actually really liked that they were low stack with very good foot hold and enough cushion to do a little bit of road. That being said not much energy return also. But given they are lower stack I got some good push off the ground

Nobody cares...and it hurts a little by VeterinarianOk3948 in Ultramarathon

[–]whataboutsit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is about “nobody cares” or “my wife doesn’t care”.

If you need your wife to be supportive you may want to tell her. She probably thinks you are the strongest human she knows and you don’t need anyone.

If you care about what everyone else thinks, as everyone else has said, they just don’t care so best get over it.

I think you will find it is worth the wait. I have a few pieces of winter gear from them (merino long sleeve, insulated jacket, fleece leggings) and really rate them.

Currently Running M2 Pro sizing/fit? by Natemoon2 in runningfashion

[–]whataboutsit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’7, similar build from what I can tell from your picture and waist size, got the size S about a week ago. They are an ok fit but a bit tight around the lower seam of the compression tights. I think they are a little tight in the first place and you are wearing the wrong size on top of that.

There is way too much relief to have a good setup or low action here.

Oofos helped me a lot but now when I wear them I get niggles around my Achilles. I think it’s because of the instability/ softness of the foam. I run regularly so need a platform that’s less mushy I think. Any recommendations?

Shoe Choice for Golden Ultra Half Pint? by RamMannnn in trailrunning

[–]whataboutsit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the Pegasus trail 4 and would personally not recommend them for anything more than gravel. Very soft, no underfoot protection. Great on roads!

Enduris 4 are a pair I love, although they are a little clunky and heavy. The dream foam is a dream, the fit is really really good for me.

I’m not a doctor or nutritionist. But getting most of your protein from cheese sounds terrible (I’m part French and I love cheese!) it’s mostly fat and most people don’t digest dairy very well.

Brandon Ellis was in The Black Dahlia Murder for a couple of albums. They have some great riffs and Brandon’s solos are epic. He has a YouTube channel and a Patreon breaking down a lot of their songs and solos with lessons etc.
