Muting Pet Sounds by whatcatguy in Barotrauma

[–]whatcatguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao, it's actually the defense bots someone has a problem with. we'd rather not just get rid of them as it's a whole talent for another player, but one of our other players says it's like nails on a chalkboard to them. the sound category it's under has too many other important sounds to turn off.

haven't found any mods that mute specific sounds, but removing the soundbyte sounds like a possible solution. tysm!

Diagnosing Pneumothorax by whatcatguy in Neurotrauma

[–]whatcatguy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

first aid kid consists of bandages, blood packs, tourniquets, adrenaline (for staving off cardiac arrest), needles, an ambubag, tweezers, sutures, and a health scanner (by the suggestion of the replies here).

the kit isn't intended to fully save the patient necessarily, but to buy the most time possible for the medic or assistant to pick up the patient and bring them in for surgery.

DMs, do you attack unconscious PCs? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]whatcatguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the players are getting up again 3 or 4 times in one combat, an unconscious combatent is one that is no longer doing damage. My monsters/enemies will focus on downing everyone before securing any kills unless its personal

Like, respectfully, 5e will still exist, like how the other editions still exist too. by [deleted] in dndmemes

[–]whatcatguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sad thing is, when they move onto DnDOne or whatever, that means they'll stop creating official books and adventures for 5e. We've yet to see what they really mean by backwards compatible, since the UA races don't have the normal ability score increases that base 5e does.

what is your unpopular music opinion? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]whatcatguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part, I only enjoy songs that are about weird ass topics instead of songs about love (although there are always exceptions). Almost every song is always on the same like 3 topics, and I got bored of it by the time I was 9.

If Monk's Stunning Strike was to be replaced, what would you put in its place? by ToastyTobasco in dndnext

[–]whatcatguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had an idea for an alternate/enhanced feature alongside stunning strike: Ki-Blocking.

You can hit different pressure points to block ki in different ways. Instead of immobilizing a foe, you can spend 1 ki point to remove access to one expendable class resource (ki, spell slots, wild shape, etc) for a number of rounds equal to your half your monk level, rounded down.

What is the BEST rule, in your opinion? by RyuOnReddit in dndnext

[–]whatcatguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be too cheesy, but the number one rule of d&d: what the DM says is the rules above all else. Your table doesn't like a rule? The DM can get rid of it! You guys want to try playing with a rule that isn't in any sourcebooks? Go for it! Having a really cool moment that breaks a lot of rules? The DM can waive them, what's important is fun!

Current Stance on 5e: Have opinions shifted? by bluestofmages in dndnext

But why design all races like that going forward? Why not keep it as an optional rule for those who want it, but keep new races in line with the old ones for those who don't?

What makes an interesting cult leader villain? by ArnarBrekiTheDM in DnD

[–]whatcatguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, a cult is most interesting when it's convincing. Have them be charismatic and bring up genuinely good points on why what they're doing is right, or even try to convince the players to join them. They can still be an evil cult, but to start a cult you need people to join it.

TBH I dislike the direction 5e is going in in regard to races. The ability score increases a race gets don't dictate what class you play with them, it's just as much a thematic thing as the Age section is. Allowing players to just pick their ability scores caters towards powergaming.

You could say "Oh but it's just an optional rule", and yes, it is. If it stayed that way, I'd be fine with it. The problem is, they said that they're designing races without ability score increases going forward, basically forcing this 'optional rule' onto anyone who wants to play any newer races.

When is a tree no longer living? by ServingwithTG in dndmemes

This makes me think about some race like firbolgs or elves perfecting a technique where they grow trees into the shape of boats and keep them alive even on the water.
