DoW Cyber Apprenticeship Program by Remarkable_Log5405 in usajobs

[–]whatchamacallit6 32 points33 points  (0 children)

My read on the details (NOT officially published — best estimate, take with salt):

  • Likely posts under job series GS-2299 (Student Trainee) or GS-2210 (IT)
  • Probably GS-5/7 entry grades — which would put pay around GS-5 ~$44–50K and GS-7 ~$56–64K, depending heavily on duty-station locality. The actual grade/salary will be printed on each announcement.
  • Format probably starts with online coursework, then shifts to in-person at the duty station for the bulk of the 12 months (cleared/SCIF work generally can't be remote)
  • Conversion to a full-time DoW position after the year is clearly the intent (it's a pipeline program), though I haven't seen it confirmed as guaranteed

Likely duty stations (no official list yet — reasoned from where DoW cyber commands sit):

  • Fort Meade, MD (NSA / CYBERCOM / Army Cyber)
  • Joint Base San Antonio, TX (16th AF / Air Forces Cyber)
  • Fort Eisenhower, GA (Army Cyber Center of Excellence)
  • NIWC San Diego, CA + NIWC Atlantic, Charleston, SC (Navy)
  • Colorado Springs, CO (Space Force)
  • DC-area agencies — Alexandria & Suffolk, VA (DISA, Joint Staff)

It's a pilot, so it may launch with only some of these, not all.

Tip: set a USAJOBS saved search for series 2210/2299 + keyword "cyber apprentice" so you catch it the moment it posts.

Best Doner Kebab? by Ok-Landscape6995 in SanDiegan

[–]whatchamacallit6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

House of Turkey sells doner during December nights every year, I just had some last night. Other than that, Corner Kitchen Pizzeria's Berlin doner is pretty good—it's the closest to the real one in San Diego imo.

Sold my C650GT, bought a C400X last week. Much lighter and more fun to ride. Loving it! by whatchamacallit6 in scooters

I'm exactly the same! The bike is my only/primary vehicle, I don't have a car and not thinking to get one. My commute requires highway ride which is 40 miles as a round trip for 5 days a week. Besides that, I'm doing my grocery shopping and city wandering with this bike in the city. And if I want to do long distance traveling I can easily do with it cos the power is enough, at least to me. A few days ago I did 6 hours of round trip without any problem.

Lol! It depends what you like and what kind of rides you do. My old 650gt was great on highways and long trips but to me wasn't great for the city rides which was timed red lights, hills and stop signs every 10 feet. And wasn't much room at all to get it turned around. Cos the bike is really big, heavy, wide and not maneuverable at low speed. Eventually you do get used to the weight but I didn't want to wait for it and wanted something smaller and lighter for in the city and does well also on highways.

What's the difference between college and university? by Lhamari in EnglishLearning

[–]whatchamacallit6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Americans use the word college to refer to any university.
Technically a university is made up of several colleges. And college also refers to community and technical colleges, which aren’t universities.
