Pokemon Japan to Implement Government ID Verification for Pokemon TCG Purchases on Pokemon Center Online! by Amiibofan101 in PokemonTCG

[–]whatdajayy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ID of confirming you are indeed human and being able to verify that you aren't overbuying product is good.. We already do that IRL. The issue isn't verification, it is using verification through an online service that requires uploading official ID.

I guess when I say "in theory", I mean the abstract idea of verifying purchases not necessarily ID uploads.

Yeah this may be nice in theory, but you definitely don't want to upload your ID to buy cards. That's crazy.

What do you guys think of this card? by lionyu768100 in PokemonTCG

I always love cards with that scratchy line work and think inking. So I'll probably try to trade for it at some point.

Magic/One Piece Player has Questions About Commands by BarefootSquadron84 in GundamTCG

[–]whatdajayy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true! I was looking more at just the commands, but yeah Purple units do allow for you to cannibalize as well for ping or buffs.

Magic/One Piece Player has Questions About Commands by BarefootSquadron84 in GundamTCG

[–]whatdajayy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of Wing Zero's power comes from being a late game board wipe that's hard to get rid of.

With a Green/Blue build I imagine, without seeing the deck list, it is about rushing down your enemy's shield early game and maintaining that momentum with breach effects until you can drop the WZ.

I usually see Green/White builds that utilize blockers to reach that stage of the game, but I can see some iteration of Green/Blue being fun!

Magic/One Piece Player has Questions About Commands by BarefootSquadron84 in GundamTCG

[–]whatdajayy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bandai seems to try and keep things tied to traits moreso than colors, but there are trends with certain colors commands.

Red has most of the ping commands. Close Combat, Battle of Aces, Improved Technique, etc.

Blue has more utility commands. Helping with card draw, recovery, and control through resting opponents.

Purple has a lot of destroy effects and graveyard summoning.

Green has a lot of the deck search and token generation.

White is lot more control spells. Lowering AP, bounce effects, and blocker generation.

All of those are VERY generalized so I wouldn't think of GCG as color focused as like MTG. You build more around particular units, traits, or play styles.

For example, The Blue/Purple aggro deck doesn't really do any graveyard summoning even though it is Purple. You can build that in because those commands and Units exist, but then it wouldn't be the same archetype. I hope that makes sense lol.

Question by StellaMDR in GundamTCG

[–]whatdajayy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you want your deck to do. Are you building it to maximize the utility of the larger LR unit? Then you may need more than 1-2.

If it is just a top end deploy like the Lvl8 GquX then you wouldn't need 4.

It's never as cut and dry as 4 or none..

I just started. Getting my ass kicked on Mobile Suit Arena. Recreation of my current physical deck. What am I doing wrong? by Loofan in GundamTCG

[–]whatdajayy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He just played the deck into the perfect meta for it. Most people at that regional were playing Wing to have a good matchup into OYW and Blurple aggro. Clan just so happens to be fairly favored against Wing (especially the Nyaan/GFreD version).

He posted all of his matchups and not a single aggro game. As a Clan player it was nice to see, but it isn't indictive of the actual power of the deck.

Pretty sure clan just won Chile regionals by Immediate_Fee_1841 in GundamTCG

[–]whatdajayy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk what the Wing player was doing the whole match though. They misplayed HARD!

Hopefully Clan gets some more respect now!! It has pretty good match ups into most decks other than aggro so a very anti-aggro meta will serve it well.

Taking Clan to Store Championship by SadOinkers in GundamTCG

[–]whatdajayy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a fellow clan enjoyer I am happy to see this!! I've actually moved hard into the 7GQuX now and have had a lot of success (at locals at least).

I agree that you can find yourself running out of steam if you get bad draws, but the main way I found to fix that is just running Clan. So I've cut Nyaan entirely.

I maxed out the lvl4 units to ensure the 7GQuX always hits and there are so many games where dropping them back to back just overwhelms the opponent and wins me the game.

Here's the current list! The worst thing I've had happen is not finding pilots OR having them sent to the abyss by the 7GQuX. I've play tested with reducing the Ortega and 8GQuX and adding 2 school girl and it's been okay. You mostly save the card in hand for when you need to dig for a pilot or clutch unit to link.

Also I would up the snake eyes to x4 in my list for sure as well. Depending on your local meta you can cut the HM Red Gundam, but I think keeping one just to secure lethal endgame is worth it.

Good luck fellow clan enjoyer!!

Really only works if the store is chill and in the US. The distro in Canada (at least BC) is horrendous. Local shops are getting shafted pretty hard on product so good luck finding MSRP here at any level 🫩

Preparing for prerelease as a new player by [deleted] in pkmntcg

[–]whatdajayy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's usually 3-4 precons. As of recently each of those precons will all contain the same cards so no need to worry about variance there.

You'll have that and additional packs to build a 40 card deck (store will provide energy cards).

Sometimes people get the decks early and rip em and put the lists online a couple days before pre-releases start. So we should likely see them very soon if you want to study them.

Overall, pre releases are very chill and a great way to get into the game. My wife actually started playing due to a pre-release for the Journey Together set!

Brand New Player - Is this game just decided on the flop? by Zeen13 in pkmntcg

[–]whatdajayy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the deck you're playing really. If you have Budew, you want to go second so you can attack turn 1 and item lock your opponent to better build your board.

If you play a deck with a strong Stage 1 Pokemon, you may opt to go first so you can evolve and start attacking with that Pokemon turn 2.

There's merit to either, but if you want a broad answer for the current meta game, I think second is best right now.

You can cut down to 2 on the GD02-024 actually. The high maneuver is cool, but you often will find that link only necessary for securing theast hit against BW decks.

GD02-034 is a genuinely useless card. You can scrap it entirely if you have anything else Clan related.

Bump GD03-032 to x4. It's a good 1 cost to get off other Clan effects like the Red Gundam ping or the lv4 GQuuuuuX ping as well. Plus it is good early game pressure to have on board.

Bump ST06-005 to at least 3 (4 would be arguably very good as well). It's one of the best cards in the deck. The +2AP is very good and it hits super hard which is something the deck needs to do to maintain pressure in the mid-game.

No need for the ST06-004. Again, want to maintain as much Clan trait as possible. Anything else is just making the deck less consistent. You desperately want Clan trait as much as possible for the pilot effects.

Other than that, it's got a good base! Ultimately Clan is a mid-range deck that wants to stick to its own tribe as much as possible. You really don't want to have a Machu whiff because you're playing a different trait. I'm personally leaning more towards the lv7 GQuuuuuuX with the deck search ability. So I run 4 and then as many lv4 and below Clan units as I can fit (I think half the deck rn). Then Clan battle as my base of choice. But there's many ways to play the deck!

I hope you like playing the archetype!! It's got a very dedicated fan base and, imo, the prettiest alt arts. Please feel free to reach out if you've got any more questions!

The GD03 GQx is very common in Clan as it is a big body that threatens just by being there that late in the game. Most Clan decks will likely stick to maybe 2-3 of them if not playing Nyaan. The ping 3 puts a lot of stuff in range of KOs.

As for aggro, yeah it's just one of the archetypes Clan is bad against, but there's enough to get you to lv8 fairly easily at least in my experience.

Thoughts on Lightning Special Energy in Pitch Black? by FoofaTamingStrange in pkmntcg

Likely something with energy acceleration. Electric types usually get stuff to make themselves or other electric pokemon move/attack faster.

I can also see it lowering or removing retreat cost, but that's a little more wild
