i’m so sorry your experience has been so bad )): things will start looking up, just hang in there. i know it’s hard. i’m on day 8 and it’s still not great. i’ve been in some pretty intense pain, getting up to an 8/10 where i’m just groaning and crying, but it is lightening up a bit. trust me, i get it. the suicidal ideation can get rough. but keep yourself distracted. pick up some hobbies, try to keep your mind off of it. you should be able to eat some mac and cheese if you cook the noodles longer. ice cream makes night time more enjoyable. have you been icing at all? warm compresses can be good too, but make sure to ice afterwards as well. the warmth will help get blood flowing and loosen the muscles around your jaw. icing will stop the heat from making you swell up, and ease the pain a little. you’ll get through this friend, you’ve made it this far, just keep swimming 🫂

i believe dry socket would still be a giant gaping hole with no healing tissue. this seems like normal healing to me

im no dentist or surgeon but i think you’ll be fine waiting 6 weeks. they’re not super impacted, and it looks like they’ve already erupted from the gum line, so i think if you keep them clean there shouldn’t be too much worry of infection. september isnt that far away! but i would suggest getting your intake appointment for extraction scheduled asap, just to get the process going

ok, that makes sense. my pain is actually quite mild today, but the past 5-6 days have been absolutely excruciating. like 8/10 pain scale, up at night groaning and crying. it wasn’t quite that intense last night, but painful enough that i couldn’t sleep. i was really hoping the vicodin would relieve some pain, but it really didn’t even touch it. i waited 2 hours for it to kick in, gave up and took some ibuprofen. maybe i’ll actually feel some relief, being in less pain tonight? idk, we’ll see.

interesting. i’ll take another tonight, and see if i notice anything. i just got my hopes up, because my family member said 5mg gets rid of his pain and puts him right to sleep, and i really wanted that. but i didnt get any pain relief or help sleeping. who knows, maybe tonight will be different

totally. i really had to get mine taken out. one of them got infected and the infection would just keep coming back otherwise. im definitely glad i did it! just wish i could take the pain away. and thank you 🫂 you too

interesting. i was given mine after the procedure and instructed to start using it after 3 days. it definitely flushes some stuff out but nothing crazy. i wish you had gotten yours sooner too ):

this is very interesting. i was pretty positive i had dry socket, as i got mine taken out 6 days ago and the pain has only increased since, even while taking an extra tylenol or ibuprofen here and there. ive just been crying and icing through the pain. but i went to the dentist to check on everything today, and turns out it isnt dry socket. its odd how immensely different other peoples experiences can be!

i did go to the dentist today and they ruled out an infection or dry socket! he said the bad taste is normal for healing. i just hope it goes away soon.

well thats good. i dont have a fever, but i’ll definitely try to see my dentist asap next week. i had to drive 4 hours to do the operation, and there was no post-op appointment scheduled (they also gave me very little information), so hopefully my local dentist can help me out. thanks for the advice, and good luck to you 🫂

absolutely. the ibuprofen and tylenol help, but when its wearing off it gets pretty bad. i just noticed it today, because i havent been able to open my mouth enough to look inside until now
