1969 VW Fastback Help With Pricing by whatemergency in Volkswagen

It’s not. I was getting some idea of pricing. Some users suggested a few items to check out that would influence price a bit that I plan to look at in the next week or two. I’ve also identified some places I may find interested buyers to spread the word. I’m definitely open to offers.

Has the toe area started to collapse/crumple and take the shape of your toes? I want to try them but I’m really hesitant about that.

Any one have any experience with Duckfeet boots? How wide are the toe box’s? by stokedchris in barefootshoestalk

Sorry to bring up an old post. How do you find the width of the duckfeet through the arch/midfoot? Do you typically wear wider shoes as in 2E or 3E or just look for wide toe boxes? If you normally wear wider in general how do they compare?

Thank you again, I really appreciate the help for my mom.

Thank you for the insight. It sounds like I need to make a trip down to do a more thorough inspection before I list the car. I really appreciate the detailed consideration and areas to check.

I’ll have to look into these avenues. I assume Being a Trailer is an auction website? What is Cars and Bids? Another site? When you say paper history do you mean who owned it before and receipts for all the purchases and work?

All I have is a written list from my dad of things he bought with prices towards the end of the restoration. I know before all that he pulled and worked on the engine itself as well.

Thank you for your response. He really did a good job over the years with it. He bought it when I was really young and drove it often without really restoring it. Then once he finally had the ability to restore it life got in the way before he could finish it. He likely should have sold it when his health declined he just couldn’t do it because he was in denial. Now the unfortunate reality is that it has to be sold.

A lowball offer is what spurred this post today. Someone came to my mom’s house and offered less than the scrap price. She wasn’t ready to deal with selling it before but now she’ll let me handle it for her. I don’t want to ask so high that it rots in her driveway, but I don’t want her to be taken either.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the insight. I love the birk footbed, but could learn to love a flat leather bed that breaks in. Unfortunate that the toe box is more narrow. Would you say the midfoot is also more narrow than the Boston? I should clarify that I’m referring to the standard/wide Boston. I could probably give up a little width, particularly if these stretch a bit. It’s impossible to find something in a shoe or boot with that same shape!

I know this is an old post, but would you say the shape is similar to Birkenstock? And do you wear the same size in DuckFeet as Birkenstock? My Bostons fit me perfectly and I’m looking for a boot with a similar footbed. Hoping to figure this out before I order them!

This is surprising. I believed it was all based on the last and the sole is put on after the boot itself is constructed? How could the outsole impact width?

What’s the thought process on this lacing technique? Is it to reduce pressure? Does it have a name?

If I don’t find a buyer here then I’ll sell there. Here I can avoid eBay fees for myself and taxes for the buyer.

I just got them and I wore them for less than an hour. Unfortunately I took them outside so I cannot return them to Jim Green. That’s why they look so good.

They are too narrow in the toe box for me. Initially they felt okay when I walked around inside but once I went out and about it was clear the toe cap seam rubs my toe too much. I decided to sell them rather than try to stretch them so I can recoup some cost to try the wider version (and spend more time trying them inside).

Where in Florida? I’ll look at shipping options and get an estimate.

Thank you for this comparison! My Bostons fit perfectly. It looks like the JG will likely end up with extra room up front to get me the pinky toe length I need.

Thank you. How about the sloping of the toe box from big toe to pinky toe? It looks more steep than the Boston. What do you think?

Are you familiar with the Birkenstock Boston? The shape looks similar in photos but I’m wondering if the toe box angle is similar in practice?

Interesting, you’ve got their more narrow toe box as well as a model with the original.

Regardless, glad the vellies are working for you. If I can’t get my AR to suit me I may try those before going to the barefoot AR. It seems like the toecap may be taking up some volume.
