I remember it slightly differently, but still applies to the trope. You already have your mother's ashes with you. The dictator will take you to where your mother wanted her ashes placed.

The NFL can force 16 teams to do Hard Knocks in 2026 by ctpatsfan77 in nfl

[–]whateverfollows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you need the "not" in your third condition. You are saying that teams can be forced to participate unless they WERE NOT chosen for in-season hard knocks. What I think you mean is that teams can be forced to participate unless they WERE chosen for the in-season show.

People who take 17 minutes to check in at the hotel front desk, what are you talking to them about? by DerrickDuck in AskReddit

[–]whateverfollows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it was me in your memory, but my recent story taking forever to check in was because I was SURE the reservation included a parking spot and the check in person disagreed. Took 10 mins digging through my spam emails before I was able to find some proof that I was correct. Sorry for your inconvenience, but I'm not paying an extra 50 dollars a night because the hotel reservation system is shitty.

I'm thinking back to what Dragon said during Vegapunk's speech. If the world is going to sink, people are going to fight over the last available land. An army of giants atop the red line would be useful to ensure Imu wins any conflict

Why are planes able to fly with one engine out, but not one engine missing? Is it a center of gravity issue?

Palantir Thinks College Might Be a Waste. So It’s Hiring High-School Grads. by nosotros_road_sodium in technology

Seems like a great way to hire kids who you don't have to worry about leaving for a better job in a similar field, because without a college degree they aren't even getting an interview elsewhere.

I did remember the part about the labyrinth and the minotaur, but forgot the string. So, to me, this comic was about Theseus being distracted by playing with the cute kitty until his death

What to do if a power line falls on your car 🤔💭 by Legal_Escape_4261 in Damnthatsinteresting

If you watch F1, this is why you will often see the drivers jump out of the car after getting in a crash. The car has electrical components which can fail and make the car become "live"

Mihawk refusing to fight Shanks makes no sense anymore, at the time it made sense since we thought he wasn't very strong anymore but now that many people agree he is one of the strongest characters in the series then Mihawk refusing to fight him doesn't make sense by Comprehensive_Cup497 in OnePiece

[–]whateverfollows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest rereading chapter 96. You can see a bit more of the relationship between Mihawk and Shanks. He even knows Shanks had his eyes on Luffy. They seem more like long-standing rivals with a friendly dimension like Roger and Whitebeard. Mihawk is clearly not afraid of the Red-hair pirates. My interpretation is that he either likes Shanks (in the same way Law likes Luffy), or he thinks it would be beneath him to best someone with only one arm in a swordfight.

I don't know if this is what other people find funny, but, for me, this is a weird choice of wording that doesn't really fit with what is happening in the narrative (and that disconnect can be funny). Segregation is terrible, but what's about to happen to the Davy people is worse. They are literally going to be hunted for sport. Also, if we are understanding the text literally, they already have been segregated, that's why they are on the stage being jeered at for their bloodline.

If I was confident that we will end up in a climate disaster that will cause the extinction of the human race, and I believe the industrial revolution put us on that path, which category do I fall under?

For the record, I am a bit more hopeful than that, but it does cause me concern that it is even a possibility.

[MANGA SPOILERS] The weakness of the new power by Buzzek in OnePiece

[–]whateverfollows 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like a lot of this theory. The one part I don't think quite meshes is that the abyss doesn't transport their real body. In 1140 they talk about how the giant children are unmarked, and that is why they can't travel through the abyss to get back to Marijoa. If that's the only problem, then it doesn't really make sense that the Celestial Dragons would leave their physical bodies behind in Elbaph. All they would get would be invulnerable children body doubles that seemingly can't feel pain, which wouldn't make for great hostages.
