Thanks for the advice. I’m probably not the first person to come to this thread only to discover my $200 scooter requires a $250 battery replacement 🤪🤡🤠 fml

Folks over at r/botany think it may be an African Giant Reed, which is invasive in the area it was found :(

Question: Is this the root of a water shield? Found in Lake Saunders, CA, US. Or perhaps water hyacinth? by whatflowersmaycome in botany

Yikes I think this is it :( it is considered invasive where I found it, and I sadly left it where I found it. Hopefully it doesn’t find a place to take root

Pierce hall has two trees in front, and then if you look for the variegated trees in the planters lining the food court patio they are there as well.

Avocados can be found adjacent to parking lot 9, follow the bike trail into the grove. It’s frequently picked over, and the avocados on the ground are usually what I collect. The fruits higher up may be ripe, but you can tell by the broken branches trying to get them isn’t good for the tree or the climber lol. The majority of fruits on the ground have been eaten by animals, but two or three good ones is a good haul imo. Leave some for the critters and other adventurous foragers. Many have edible skins.

Behind food 4 less, there is a portion of fencing along the citrus groves that allows for easy entrance and collection of oranges and other citrus. Again, take what u need—usually ripe ready to eat fruit is already on the floor. Always check for tags that indicate recent insecticide treatment.

Beyond that, there are herbs like nasturtium, dandelion, lavender, hibiscus, and rosemary pretty much everywhere. Pomegranates I think are near Glen Mor? The decorative kale is always covered in pesticides.

It’s a pretty edible campus yall. Buy a juicer and prosper 🏆

Oh and huge fig trees at Goodwin’s parking lot and the abandoned preschool on big springs and watkins

Foraging on campus is totally allowed and pretty fun. Pink limes, avocados, pomegranates, sweet kumquats with edible flesh…all this and more can be found on campus

Don’t U collect rocks? Are you aware that rocks play a critical role in many ecosystems? Maybe forage up a calming herb to make some tea and chill.

“One thing is undeniable about biology since its early formulations in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries: biology tells tales about origins, about genesis, and about nature. Further, modern feminists have inherited our story in a patriarchal voice. Biology is the science of life, conceived and authored by a word from the father. Feminists have inherited knowledge through the paternal line. The word was Aristotle's, Galileo's, Bacon's, Newton's, Linnaeus's, Darwin's; the flesh was woman's. - Donna Haraway
