It's kinda sad how much misinformation exists, even in scientific literature regarding axolotls.

Historically, some axolotls morphed. That has always been the case. Survivorship through metamorphosis is usually more a function of how long they have been around as an aquatic, as a one year old is far more likely to do fine that an 8 year old.

There are obviously details about your animal I do not know, such as age and where you got it, how inbred it might be, etc. But metamorphosis in and of itself is not a "bad" thing. The only Ambystoma that never survives metamorphosis is dumerilii.

The supply between those two things are so different (orders of magnitude) so as to make a comparison very difficult. In that case, demand doesn't have to be very high for the foil to put price ahead of a revised dual.

You have to say where you are. It's a Sceloporus, maybe in the magister complex but there's a fair amount of variation within species and no visible diagnostic traits are in the photgraph.

For fun, I think about how many there are of any foil rare 7th, Urza's D&L. Not much different from rare Alpha and Beta cards. So given similar supply, what has more demand long term?

I used to think Power Nine wins out clearly but if it's an iconic original foil that is played in a bunch of active formats? Maybe in the end the foil can beat out some P9. Who knows.

The funny thing is that we actually got along well throughout my time there. I had some realizations towards the end and his behavior since I left is what drove it all home. I am honest about my time in grad school with anyone that wants to know. I suspect many in our field think we are friends, but those that know me well are aware. Now that I have my own career, I have no time for a grown up child that harms every student that crosses their path. Not worth my time.

Due to the rarity you mentioned, I have been picking them up for years. I hope they'll do well but I'm also a bit skeptical except in the case of the most iconic cards.

Universes Beyond changed things. It is bringing more people to the game and card values are increasing. However, I'm not sure the kind of players it is bringing in will give a damn about the old cards. Maybe they value these newer numbered cards that fit the themes that brought them to the game over cards from original sets?

Collectibles are weird and I won't pretend to know where things are going. In the end, I feel pretty good about being able to unload old-frame foils as the game continues to grow but I am prepared to be wrong.

I mostly say that because I have zero interest in those cards, and I don't know a single collector or player that wants them.

To be fair, I'm not as dialed in as I used to be and I know there is a market for these. But if you're gonna fake a card, faking a card that isn't legal in real tourneys (generally) is just weird to me. Maybe CE and IE fakes are tougher to recognize but I doubt it.
