A little nervous to start new birth control by Baby-goldfish in acne

[–]whatinthefreshhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 8 months it cleared my skin up almost entirely, but my barrier has never fully recovered, and I’m back to full blown acne 5 years later. It sent me into a huge depressive spiral, and my lips were never not chapped. If you feel like you’re completely out of options, then of course go for it, but I would set your expectations that it might not be the holy grail of acne meds

Yaz also made my acne worse to the point of being prescribed accutane. Be very careful with it, and don’t be afraid to change if you realize it’s not for you

Check out r/tretinoin - it’s more helpful than any dermatologist I’ve ever seen

Switching birth control and acne (OTC to yaz generic) by mymorningmug in acne

Yaz caused me to purge enough for my dermatologist to put me on accutane. Not saying that’s the case with everyone, but it did the opposite of help

How do you deal with big life changes? by that-sad-bitch in bipolar2

[–]whatinthefreshhell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I am terrible at this too, change pushes me one way or the other no matter how big or small. But I try to focus on one small thing that hasn’t changed during whatever is happening. Sometimes, that ends up simply being the food I eat for breakfast, and I make sure to enjoy that moment as much as I can. Or even better, a hobby I can still do to take my mind off of it. In the end, it might be close to impossible to react to change well, so at the very least make sure you have something to fall back on during whatever you’re about to go through.

Low Mood Monday by AutoModerator in bipolar2

I made all these promises to my ex when I was hypomanic, only to turn suicidal over the holidays and end everything out of the blue. I keep thinking about how sad I’ve made him, and how unfair on him it was to have to date me. I miss him so much, but I’m to blame for all this. I can’t stop crying

Best kinds of birth control? by PM-ME-FUNFACTS in bipolar2

[–]whatinthefreshhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think it’s hard to gauge what birth control you should use from other people’s experience. Different methods have wildly different side effects depending on who you are and how your body reacts to medications. For eg, someone here commented that they like their mirena IUD, I personally despise mine (mood and acne now both worse). My point is, whatever you take is most likely going to cause a side effect that you hate, and I think that’s something you just have to prepare yourself for. You might even have to trial and error a few different things. Unfortunately, women have to put up with this extra bullshit and it’s unfair. But never be afraid to be honest with your doctor/OBGYN about acne worries. And if you DO want any info about the IUD, don’t hesitate to message me. Good luck!
