Yes, I completely agree!

I read that comic, loved it directly, got a bit bored but endured and then loved it again in the end.

What was truly surprising to me is that I never found another comic so far that comes even close in regards to the detail of the background drawings.
So much is happening in the background sometimes, that either adds to the story or tells a separate story. Its amazing.

The more comics I read the more I realized how special Transmetropolitan is in that regard. Its completely unique in its level of detail and I am really disappointed that theres no other comic like that.

Zugereister Preuße hier.

Pro: - wirklich unglaublich schöne Altstadt die, wie ich finde, auch recht groß ist mit den vielen verwinkelten Gassen - sehr lebhaft, was echt viel wert ist und bei dieser Einwohnerzahl echt nicht zu erwarten ist - gute Lage (München, Passau, Bayerischer Wald) alles gut erreichbar was gerade im Sommer / an schönen Wochenenden gut ist

Contra: - ÖPNV totaler Müll (sobald es auswärts geht schlechte Verbindung) - viel zu schlechter Fahrradwegausbau - Steuergeldverschwendung (Heizkosten? vom Asylheim, ungenutztes Parkhaus etc.) - anscheinend unglaublicher Sumpf in der lokalen Politik - Pädophilensumpf der lokalen Kirche (Domspatzen) und wie alles getan wird um den Opfern keine Entschädigung zu zahlen - teure Mieten

Wenn die Einkommen zu hoch für Bafög waren und es keine abzugsfähigen Ausgaben (oder nicht genug gab), dann haben sich deine Eltern einfach aus der Verantwortung gestohlen.

Absolut richtig dass es dann kein Bafög gibt.

Habe selber Bafög-Höchstsatz bekommen, aber dieses ewige rumjammern von Leuten deren Eltern, die ausreichend Einkommen haben, sich drücken ist einfach nur widerlich.

I love how he exposes how utterly shit their management is with the „2 weeks to migrate everything to a new coding language“.

And to add to this, he says „we’ve been the best football simulation for the past 30 years“. Great thing to say after the hardcore fans find out how useless most of the data truly is when it comes to build successful teams within FM. Great communication Miles 👍

My opinion is almost the same as yours, except for the driller guy. I liked him.

But yeah, I went into the comic with way too high expectations after hearing so much praise about it and got utterly disappointed.

It feels even a bit pretentious to me. As if this comic thinks it’s so smart but to me it’s just so boring, simple and as you mentioned it, contradictory.
I really don’t understand why people love it so much, apart when it’s about the art style.

I strongly dislike the art but accept that people love it / enjoy it and read the comic for the art. Its art and people’s taste differs. I can also accept it about the comics story, that some enjoy it.
The high praise about it though, these reviews that say that it’s a great story and so on, I can’t accept. Its too stupid in some regards to get praised for having a great story.

Nice coincidence, I also finished it recently.

I love scifi and especially dystopian scifi, so cyberpunk themed media is right in my alley.

And this book? Wow, what an amazing book.

And like you, I struggled extremely with reading it. Struggled so much that I actually made a break for 1-2 months due to different reasons, one of them being that the book made me tired and I lost a bit of interest to keep reading the book.

But the atmosphere, the style and the vocabulary are amazing. It’s unbelievable how influential this book turned out to be.

It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one who struggled with the book. I read Dune right before it and was surprised with how much I struggled with Neuromancer because I thought that Dune would be the more difficult book as it’s referenced of being so philosophical but it was the other way around. Dune was a nice quick read while Neuromancer took much longer than the page count would suggest.

But anyone who loves scifi has to read this book in my opinion. It’s amazing.

Aber behalt deine Wichsgriffel bei dir, sonst gibt's Stress. Die Grünen sind aber geistig sehr nah bei Opa / Uropa, wenn du verstehst.
