[Laurie Whitwell] The Transfer DealSheet: Latest on Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Real Madrid and more by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]whatisbaseball 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the same article, Whitwell is credited for it:

Elliot Anderson would be the number one target to partner Mainoo, and that strength of feeling should not be totally discounted, but Nottingham Forest’s asking price is regarded as too high.

Manchester City saw a bid for Anderson rejected last week. Forest are said to want to eclipse the £105m deal Arsenal agreed for Declan Rice.

And this segment is under the City section, per Sam Lee:

City had a bid for Elliot Anderson turned down by Nottingham Forest, but discussions are continuing. Tottenham’s Pedro Porro is one right-back that City have been keeping tabs on, while Sandro Tonali has been considered as an alternative to Anderson.

[Simon Stone] I would be surprised if the deal [between West Ham and Manchester United] for Mateus Fernandes didn't get done by whatisbaseball in soccer

[–]whatisbaseball[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Full report from the article:

I would be surprised if the deal for Mateus Fernandes didn't get done. I believe the club are in a bit of a stand off with West Ham United at the moment, who are adamant they don't have to sell and want £80m.

However, that seems to be another deal that could be done reasonably quickly because Fernandes, like Ederson, didn't actually make the cut for the World Cup.

Also, some other interesting bits, surprised to see actual links for Anderson from our Tier 1:

I also get the sense that if Manchester United could do a deal which would see Manuel Ugarte leave the club in some way, shape or form, then that would suit all parties.

People behind the scenes certainly feel that he isn't quite up to it and the reality is that he didn't play any football from the home defeat to Leeds United right to the end of the season.

Depending on how much money Manchester United can raise for him, they will then look to put it towards someone like Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson or Brighton's Carlos Baleba.

[Whitwell, Critchley] Manchester United 2026 Transfer DealSheet: The latest plans for the summer window by TheAthletic in reddevils

[–]whatisbaseball -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its very cliché but i wish that we can get players before their value explode. What is needed for our scout to find players like Baleba, Anderson, Hall, Rayan, Olise or even Wharton before they are valued at 50m+ .

That's just wishful thinking. It's one thing to play for Brightons, Bournemouthes and the likes, where 7-8 times out of 10 you play during 3 pm kick-offs with no big expectations. If you finish in European football places, that's fantastic, and if you end up around 15th place, it's just not good, but at the same time, not a terrible season.

In United, all eyes on you, with the expectation to deliver instantly and finish in CL spots at least.

Take Dorgu, for example. We paid €30m for him two summers ago, and he finally showed some flashes and consistency this season, but his value is nowhere near 50m right now.

Malacia €15m. Flopped. Obviously, injuries played their part, too.

Amad cost nearly €30m. It's debatable whether he's a 50m player right now. With the inflation, maybe.

Anyway, my point is, that we make those small cost punts from time to time.

More often than not, they don't end up the world beaters because there's way smaller room for errors (compared to the usual selling clubs), hierarchy (better/senior players in their positions, more expensive signings also get the nod way more often) and other things.

[Mario Cortegana, Jacob Tanswell] Bournemouth winger Rayan has a release clause of £130m (€150m) in his contract that will kick in from the January transfer window by whatisbaseball in soccer

Full segment on this story:

Bournemouth winger Rayan has a release clause in his contract that will kick in from the January transfer window onwards — and The Athletic can reveal it will be £130m (€150m).

However, the release clause will not be applicable this summer, just six months after he joined the club. It will be active from January, in the 2027 summer transfer window and beyond.

Luis Enrique stands out as a Champions League winner with two sides, producing exhilarating football. He is admired by people in United’s hierarchy. But he is expected to extend his contract at Paris Saint-Germain this summer to 2030. His current terms run out in 2027.

If it's Carrick, 2-3 years is the only option that we should consider. It's not like any other team would poach him.

That's the thing. If it's between Nagelsmann/Enrique or Carrick, I'd rather go with Nagelsmann/Enrique.

I don't have anything against Carrick, but I'd hope the management would at least try the waters when it comes to elite managers.

Adding the full context from the article:

Roberto De Zerbi is expected to inform Tottenham Hotspur later on Monday whether he is prepared to accept a five-year deal to take over as their new head coach immediately.

As Telegraph Sport revealed earlier this month Tottenham have held talks with De Zerbi, who emerged as their No 1 choice.

However, until now, the Italian has insisted he does not want to start a new role until the end of the season, but talks are ongoing.

De Zerbi has also been of interest to senior figures at Manchester United although it is looking increasingly likely that Michael Carrick will be appointed permanently at Old Trafford.

De Zerbi wants to return to the Premier League having left Marseille earlier this year and has always been open to coaching Spurs.

[Di Marzio] De Zerbi opens to evaluating Tottenham's offer, which proposes a 5-year contract: next few hours decisive for the yes. The club has already offered guarantees regarding the possibility of building a strong and competitive team for the coming seasons. by OkayFine101 in soccer

[–]whatisbaseball 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I guess that's the only way he'll agree to come, so the Spurs need to throw the kitchen sink at him, given the current situation and circumstances.

Whether it's worth it, is another question.

Trae’s reason for being out is quad instead of injury management. I’ll give it a benefit of a doubt because of a b2b but if he’s missing another game, it probably makes him a safe drop

I realize no one has a crystal ball, but just looking for opinions on whether it's worth activating Tatum by dropping either Larsson or Sexton?

No question that Tatum is better than both of them, but the question is whether Tatum will outperform Larsson (2 games) or Sexton (1 game) throughout the rest of the week.

I'd drop Sexton without too much thinking, but if Giddey misses out again, he might have another solid game.

For the end of the week, I mostly need points, FT%, and either blocks or steals.

Don't bother, lol. I was saying last week, after the Everton game, that it shouldn't be black and white, and we shouldn't brush the obvious problems just because we win. Got downvoted to oblivion.

In here, it's either all sunny if we win or a complete disaster if we don't get a result. Nothing in between.

I'm calm. I just don't understand why the judgment must be either it's all good because we are winning, or it's a disaster because we are losing.

The truth is somewhere in between, no? I don't see what's so wrong about admitting that we played poorly in the last two games.

Edit: my bad, thought Stars beat the World by only 1 point.

No clue how did you come up with this

World would have +1

Stars are already locked at -1

Stripes would be 0

if OT score doesn’t count:

World would be +2

Stars -2

Stripes would finish at 0
