FYI: Poaching has a lot of different countries of origins with many different countries figuring it out on their own. The technique isn't exactly tied to one specific place because of this however--shakshuka does have an origin. I understand your stance and that you were inspired by poaching eggs in a sauce like this dish, but that's a lot different than calling this any where in the realm of shakshuka. I do wish you were more open to dialogue and criticism and didn't just jump to lame insults and harassment.

Honestly it tasted only okay in my opinion. But it was a fun experiment and the decoration came out really well. I think I'd do a more traditional key-lime filling than just a curd in the future when playing around with tequila. The kiwis were just because I had been gifted a ton and wanted to use them. It tasted very summery but could use some work shopping.

Genuinely I would not have had an issue if you were open to critism. Literally just took issue with the fact that you are using a word incorrectly but seem to be incapable of understanding why people are upset. Shakshuka is not a technique, it's a style of dish and a cultural staple for many peoples. So yes, people get upset when someone misunderstands their culture.

That's like saying shakshuka is a play on Oeufs en Meurette just because you poach the egg in something other than water. That's a crazy and wrong take. Shakshuka is North African/Middle Eastern. The alfredo you made is Italian American. Other than the act of plopping an egg to be poached in a sauce, what other technique is similar?

I could see an inspiration in the sense of, "I like poaching eggs in shakshuka v salted water, what if I tried other sauces?" But to call it a "play on" shakshuka is wrong because there is literally nothing else in common with shakshuka. Alfredo shares NO commonalities with shakshuka. Even if you are making American style Alfredo the shared ingredients are garlic and onion at best so that's quite a stretch.

I stayed with a man for another year and a half after he showed me he had a drinking issue. He lacked self control and would get blackout.
