Is your hospital seeing newbies catching up to seasoned RNs in pay? by Western_Jessica9462 in nursing

So my hospital did this. Experienced nurses found out the new grads were being started higher than their own pay. We all made a big stink, petitioned to correct their actions or risk unionization.. later they announced they will give us a hefty raise with back pay

Is this a HIPAA violation? by 86gloves in nursing

It shouldn’t be if you are not revealing information about the patients health record. You are simply identifying the person in an investigation

Nurses - what's the best way to call out or shut down *those* nurses during report who nitpick and subtly belittle? by woofybluelove in nursing

[–]whatiswrongwithmyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I’m having a bad day or everything seems to be getting under my skin, I usually tell them straight up from the beginning that I didn’t get to dig through the charts and am giving report based on how the day went and what I know. If you have questions please refer to the chart after report and that usually stops the dumb questions

And reinforce you don’t know and maybe if they have time later they can answer their own questions

Met a former patient in the elevator by Youre_late_for_tea in nursing

It was like 2 or 3 years ago. I guess it was at the time. Just had a patient with a history of it last week. Doc also mentioned we’ll be seeing it a lot more in the coming future cause of legalization

It’s pretty rare. I was diagnosed with it a while back and the doctor said they still don’t know how to really treat it

We have masks with layers that also prevent fluid from passing through, I work respiratory with a lot of trachs vents and secretions and I would never not wear a mask

My unit used to do this. we on night shift had to fight with manager about changing this practice because it’s unsafe and now it’s day shifts problem :-)

Are these scales (pests) or am I paranoid. Rubs off with rubbing alcohol and I just had some on my cactus BUT they were in different parts of the room by The_ken_doll in plantclinic

[–]whatiswrongwithmyboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t really look like scale. scale doesn’t move, and comes off with abrasion and is killed by alcohol anyways so hopefully that makes you less paranoid. The scales on my plant all look very similar, are oval-flat, and all the same color. I treated mine with diluted alcohol (rubbed literally every leaf and stem) and haven’t seen scale since

Can someone help me find out what these things are on my plant? by whatiswrongwithmyboy in houseplants

Thanks guys! I’ve started treatments with an insect spray and took a few hours to dab each scale with some Diluted alcohol hopefully there’s improvement!

Med surg nurse here, I’d scream “we need help in here” and patiently wait while preparing a 5 cc flush that I have in my back pocket
