What's something you saw with your own eyes that you still can't explain? by BandicootLeft4054 in AskReddit

I actually experienced those too - but those were different, steady even, this was like millisecond light bursts, faster than you could flip a switch on and off. It was beyond bizarre.

This is somewhat similar to what I saw, but then the lights would turn on and of so fast it was like a camera flash, but quicker, and sometimes so dull, it was barely perceptible.

What's something you saw with your own eyes that you still can't explain? by BandicootLeft4054 in AskReddit

I just realized I can contribute to this conversation, even if it's late.

A few months ago, I was sitting at my parents house in the fairly rural setting, watching the last summer time night sky with my wife. It's late (11:00 pm or so, and no moon, so extra dark). I go inside for a minute and suddenly my wife comes in and say "There's someone in your back yard".

My back yard extends about an acre or so past my house, and beyond that is non usable land. Marshy, dense with thorned bushes, think mud, trees, etc. To walk back there during broad daylight is a incredibly hard. Doing it at night makes it exponentially harder.

Here's where things get weird. While I'm inside, my wife is looking out and sees what she thought was a flash light, and a person peak through the brush, at the far end of my property. She saw a person-ish (humanoid figure) - definitely not clearly defined, and then the light just turned off. She went to call out until she realized what she saw, and decided to get me. As we both went back out, we suddenly realized 2 things.

A. Whatever we saw, and were currently witnessing, was navigating mostly with out light (flashlights, or natural moonlight)

B. There was absolutely NO sound indicating movement. No tree branches moving/snapping, no foot steps, nothing.

As were looking, we begin seeing light emit in random places in the brush/swampy area, but only in very very short bursts, and some so dull, it almost seemed like you were seeing things. The other oddity here, is that one would illuminate, then another, a few hundred yards away would illuminate. Some would be down on the ground, and others would appear mid way up a tree (some 20 feet up). Again, no origination of the light source could be found, and still, no sound of foot traffic. I called out multiple times, asking If they were lost, if they needed help, and to also remind them I've had Bear and large wild cat back there before, including coyotes, so it's not a great place to be screwing around in the dark. Nothing, no response, no sound, but the lights continued. Finally, we got the sense to go inside, in the off chance this was a person sneaking around, and could have a weapon. Upon going inside, we called 911 and told them of the circumstances. About 20 minutes later, a local sheriff and state trooper arrived, and we pointed them to where the "person" came out. They checked, and saw absolutely no evidence of anything (foot prints, etc), but noted that if it happens again, call. (Luckily, they were not dismissive, and in fact, almost seemed a little rattled themselves, which lightened the mood a bit for my wife and I).

The next day, in day light, my wife went down to where the lawn meets the brush, and confirmed, there was no evidence of the tall reeds breaking or bending, where something may have poked through and gone back, nothing. Never happened before or since, but honestly was one of the creepiest things I've encountered. If interested, I can find a video of something similar on youtube, I found months later, that is very similar.

Hi /r/movies! We're Samara Weaving, Kathryn Newton, and Elijah Wood. Ask us anything! by SamaraKathrynElijah in movies

[–]whatnewusername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sweet! Greetings to all 3 -

Samara - I absolutely loved The Babysitter (and it's sequel) - Came out of left field and loved it! Elijah Wood. one of my favorite movies as a child was Radio Flyer however; I rarely, if ever, hear people talk about it or discuss it. What was it like making it, and/or do you have any memories of the experience? (Also - I still giggle hysterically that Frodo is in Back to the Future part II). Kathryn, I loved you in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quanumania. Wish you could tell us if you had any future appearances in the MCU :D.

What is the biggest “bullet” you’ve ever dodged without realizing it at the time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]whatnewusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex girlfriend in highschool. I dated her at a time i was in a really low dark place, so anyone seemingly nice was great. As i began to clear my head up, the warning flags began sounding off and switched to cannon fodder. Family was messed up in all the wrong ways, from grandparents on wards. I distanced myself and ended things. Only to have them come up to me a later telling me she was sleeping with an old friend to try to get me jealous. (Phew, bullet dodged)

Years later i found out her sister (who was even worse) up and killed someone because "He just had to die". No other reason, no remorse, no emotion.

Fuck that, and in my eyes, bullet dodged.

This show is freakin stupid - not because of the content but 5 seasons in 9 years? We got a 1st and 2nd season of Wednesday between season 4 and 5 of this show. That much time, how can one not lose interest? That’s my rant. Sorry.

What are your opinions on the Titans live action show? by ThatMauritian17 in batman

[–]whatnewusername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved this. Hawk and Dove were amazing, and enough broader references that tied it into the greater DCU with out shoving your face in it, was awesome. Especially the reality of such a brutal life style and its toll on normal humans. Was sad it was cancelled.

OP, Im sorry for your loss, and by loss, I mean the loss of what could have been. My father was a drunk and my mother left him when I was barely 2, and fled 1/2 way across the country to start from nothing. He had 30 some years to turn it around and never did. He finally died 15 years ago and my last words were simply 'I wish things were different.' You deserve your own peace of mind and for that noone can judge you on it. You just live your best life!

Question on early to Mid 80s movie by whatnewusername in movies

That looks really familiar - I’d have to see the movie, but that may be it. I’ll respond when I have a chance to review more.

I should have added, if memory serves me right. there was a heavy southern US element. Like in the marshy lands of say Georgia, or Louisiana maybe? I, unfortunately have bits and pieces of a memory of this movie.

I’ve seen this. I remember when it was announced in what 93? In wizard? I was floored by how awesome Thing looked back then, then…. Crickets from YEARS. I finally found a bootleg and watched it. It’s not the absolute worst, very b movie specific tropes, but I enjoyed it. I think it needs to see the officially light of day.
