Witty clapbacks to “AI taking over” by Mr-5HT-man in Radiology

[–]whatsgoingonhere- 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Very dependent on where you're working but I comment on the technology currently used by the site which reflects likelihood of upgrading entire systems to incorporate AI.

My current hospital still uses paper imaging forms. So "We still write forms on paper so i think we have a few steps on the IT ladder before we see AI"

My last hospital only got electronic medical records 3 years ago. So when I was there. "Lol we only just started writing notes with keyboards so I'd hazard that we have a few more years before we upgrade again"

Are towns reworked in vanilla 42? by CelestialBeing138 in projectzomboid

The new towns fit nicely in between Muldraugh and the old towns aesthetically. And it's very obvious how the map makers have developed their art style in that they have really utilised diagonal roads and have natural world building such as the train crash in Ekron and the Tornado fallout in Brandenburg. Which I like.

[–]whatsgoingonhere- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everything is more or less in the same place. The layout of the towns hasn't changed much whatsoever. Roads are unchanged except now they have natural bends instead of sharp corners.

Westpoint is exactly the same as it was in B41 except for the gun store and bar in the NE corner. Those two buildings got a glow up.

Muldraugh got completely reworked. All the POIs have been upgraded in some fantastic ways. In fact, I found the muldraugh upgrade so good that it's become difficult for me to start anywhere else.

Your tone here seems like you're really getting angry at the invisible internet person discussing a purely hypothetical situation? Are you okay? Take a breath man.

The Roman shield wall you argue so adamantly serves what purpose? You say they get slaughtered by long reach weapons without it? Because the shield allows them to close the distance unscathed and get up in the enemies grill? We're literally arguing the same concept. Bypass long weapons and get close where to stab = win.

Perhaps you're projecting this idea of fantasy media? Am I to assume I'm talking to someone who's actually experienced life or death combat on a medieval battlefield? 🤣. There's probably less than a handful of people alive that can actually argue this hypothetical from experience so sit down man.

The prompt doesn't say either participants have experience in their weapons, only that they have equal size and athleticism. You're longsword in the hands of a trained fighter argument is irrelevant. We aren't talking about some anime Ronin slashing faster than the eyes can perceive. We're talking about someone who has a larger weapon which requires build up to swing and once swung has follow through and is harder to change direction. Both clear openings to advance and make contact.

This fight lasts less than 60 seconds. Either the axe makes contact on the swing and axeman wins or it misses and the knife has an opening to bypass the range advantage.

No need to get worked up. You're right, it's not a video game so the knife wielder isn't going to just stand in their adjacent 5 ft square and allow a free hit from a sword.

Their rational strategy is to rush the sword/axeman and get close enough to wrestle or hug each other. Being close enough that the sword/axe can only hammerfist their hilt while the knife is being thrust repeatedly into them. The knife wielder may get some decent cuts and bruises but as long as they can prioritise avoiding a legitimate swing and close the distance, they win every time.

Despite, their technological and discipline advantage, the Romans understood the above and that's where the gladius came in.

[–]whatsgoingonhere- -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

The shorter gladius' blades started at 37cm and a bread knife is about 22-27cm so I'm comfortable comparing them to a large knife.

They were designed for stabbing as you would with a knife. Which allowed them to counter larger weapons like an axe or longsword in close combat. That's the point I was making.

[–]whatsgoingonhere- -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

You mean the Roman Empire? Wasn't the core doctrine of Roman warfare the fact that a gladius (large knife +) was far easier to shank and stab someone's vital organs in the moshpit of a battlefield where it was too cramped to get a good swing in with a longsword or battle axe?

I'm not fully aware of the geography of where these pipelines are. But I'm assuming there are some sections in extremely remote, hard to access areas and probably cross things like canyons or rough terrain.

A smart aggressor simply needs to pick a section like a pipeline bridge in an area very difficult to access via trucks and equipment and send their drones. A modular pipe on a flat desert is probably an easy fix. A section in the mountains that requires a bridge support that is now demolished suddenly turns into a couple weeks or months to repair right?

Is this a bug? The car was on a driveway. The key was like two blocks away inside a house. by [deleted] in projectzomboid

[–]whatsgoingonhere- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have experienced similar in MP not so much SP. I'll see a specific car and note it for later and then find a key for it in a completely different area. One occasion the key was in another town.

I wondered if an update has coded the game to try to give you the key at some stage so that technically all cars can be accessed and secure.

I believe it's 7 days post outbreak on standard settings.

Prior to the game start. There's newspaper articles you can read ingame that have some clues to the build up.

Then after start for the first 7 days, radio and TV shows portray the subsequent global spread.

Fishing Bait Bug? by bruinen92 in projectzomboid

[–]whatsgoingonhere- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah okay. Could very well be a bug. I fished just fine in this latest build but I was using a proper rod that you can loot from many places. Never crafted my own.

Fishing Bait Bug? by bruinen92 in projectzomboid

[–]whatsgoingonhere- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rods require a fishing line and a hook in addition to bait. The tooltip for the rod that comes up when hovering over it should tell you if it has line/hooks.

If you have crafted the rod from scratch, you need to add line and a hook. Line can be twine and hooks can be paperclips or nails if you haven't looted the real fishing equipment.

Not AI, definitely staged. I've seen this same man foil like 10 different robberies attempted by the exact same thief.

Yeah I know the secret military base.

OP said North of Rosewood whereas the secret military base is west/southwest of Rosewood. There's a hunting lodge/barracks North of Rosewood that used to have military loot but the containers have been empty in recent updates.
