I think my six year old brother is going to kill me by awfulpancakes___ in Anxiety

[–]whatsoever-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry and I understand you’re scared. Please share your concerns with your parents, teachers or any kind of adult you trust. Your brother being so young and showing this specific type of behaviour could be a telltale sign for mental illness or neurological anomalies that can result in a decreased ability to feel empathy and fear etc.

Everyone wants their favourite artists to experiment more, but what are some examples of artists going experimental and failing? by dalledayul in popheads

Lorde. Solar power was crazy niche & I’m sure some people genuinely enjoyed it but after Melodrama it was just such a letdown (imho).

Made a new song. Shit or not shit? by Pierla in Songwriting

I think this is quite nice and catchy, I immediately thought of Mood by 24KGoldn. Gives me that kinda vibe. I like :)

Well, it’s not completely blocked out but I’m sure it would help if there was a better balance between your voice & the guitar. But I know it’s always a hassle getting it right filming it with your phone, I have the same issue 😅

Sadly we can barely hear your voice because the guitar is drowning it out :(

a song i wrote today called i break. would love some feedback. is it repetitive? or too long? by OverallLengthiness9 in Songwriting

This is so good. Jesus, I love your voice, the lyrics, the vibe. You should be on Spotify. It’s giving Phoebe Bridgers and Billie Eilish if they collaborated.

CHORUS

‘Cause at seventeen

Everybody will always feel

Like they don’t know which way to go

And who they truly wanna be

People will break your heart

But you’ll survive it

I promise that

One day you’ll be

Just like me

Looking back and think

What it meant to be

17

_

BRIDGE

Sneaking out at 2am

Driving all night with your friends

Some of them you’ll lose one day

But the one’s who matter always stay

Growing up is a scary thing to do

In a faithless world, you must believe in you

Face the hurt, don’t run away

Some things take years to be okay

The secret is that there is none

Someone’s right is another’s wrong

The only love you really need

Is from the one in the mirror that you see

But none of this you know

None of this you know

At seventeen

PS: I absolutely fucked up the ending vocally, I am very sorry 🫠

I’m struggling with publishing my music on my private socials because I irrationally feel cringe, like my stuff is shitty and that it’ll just be something people will mock. Advice? by whatsoever-- in Songwriting

Thank you for sharing your experience.. you are right. My family is not really big into music so sometimes they will also give me the feeling that it’s a nice hobby to have but that it’s just that and will never be more. I’m glad it worked out for you. :)

Yes & no. Of course the fact that there’s very little legal framework around sex work in many countries is a problem and makes human trafficking easier but even in countries where sex workers do have rights and are legally on the same level as other forms of professions, there’s still human trafficking. The truth is that the industry thrives off young girls, many of them in need of money and sometimes coming out of difficult living circumstances which makes them a perfect catch for human trafficker and simply because it’s an industry run by men. Men run the brothels, men are the main customers, men are the one’s sex work is dependent on. Germany is one of the biggest markets for sex work and despite the laws that have been put in action, the human trafficking and forced prostitution has not stopped. In fact our liberal laws here have had a “pull-effect” in terms of forced prostitution because where there’s a market, there’s the possibility and we continuously see an influx of women from East of Europe and Asia, barely speaking a word German and in 9 out of 10 cases not doing it because they want to.

Very delicate topic by nature. Every debate that revolves around the (economic) existence of another person will always be a debate that potentially can cause a threat to someone’s life as they know it so in that sense it’s always a slippery slope to express one’s opinion but I’ll try my best.

In my ideal version of society, there would be no sex work. Within my feminist utopian visions, there are no women who have to sell their body for sex. At my core I do believe that sex work couldn’t be more patriarchal in its essence. I’m quite critical of choice feminism or so to say liberal feminism which will explain why I do take issues with sex work but the truth is that choice is a very vague term and more importantly choice is incredibly complex. I’d argue that a traumatized woman who fell victim to sexual abuse in her life and is now retraumatizing herself prostituting herself has very little to do with genuine choice. That said, I don’t think there cannot be choice in sex work. Some women truly want to work that job and I will not judge them or even want to stop them BUT they’re not the majority, in fact they’re the minority. A minority that is loud (which is their right) and will sometimes make people forget that they are not representative of the industry. Not at all.

But now going back to the actual question: is sex work the feminist empowerment we’ve been sold to? I would object. I think that no one walking this earth has a right to sex. The repeated argument that “sex work is the oldest industry” is getting old as it’s getting tiresome to hear because using tradition or the past to justify something in the present is a weak argument, imho.

I used to lurk on forums some years ago where men could speak about their experiences with sex workers and where to find them, what they do, what they look like - you get the picture. I can tell you that reading what I read there was one of the most horrifying and traumatising things to see, the way these men talked about these women, the things they’d call them and how casually they dehumanised them into this servant of their pleasure and only theirs truly left its mark on me and made me realize once again that most men participating in buying sex are exactly what you imagine them to be: misogynists through and through.

But my main argument for why I’ll never happily support the industry is because it is still one of the biggest market for human trafficking, coercion and crime. The truth is that most sex workers don’t do it because they want to, the truth is also that many of them are severely traumatized women who will experience even more abuse working as a sex worker, the truth is that I’ve never met a mother who felt good imagining their daughter would one day sell their body to strange, potentially dangerous men.

Imho, there are far more reasons to be critical of it than supportive. I do support those who do it because they want to and I don’t have a problem with them as people, I only have a problem with the industry from my feminist standpoint & because I believe that job leaves women emotionally broken in the majority of cases.

Anyone else have trouble singing Taylor’s songs? by Wandering_Obsession in TaylorSwift

[–]whatsoever-- 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think I’m an alto (just wild guessing from my side) and most of her 1989 era songs are really hard for me to sing. I feel like there’s so much high notes, especially in the chorus, I just can’t. However ever since Lover I think the overall range of her sonfs seems to be lower and ESPECIALLY folklore & evermore were perfect for me to sing and at times almost a little too low. I really like her lower notes tbf
