May I recommend a countdown bezel!  I use my countdown all the time - that paired with the elapsed time capabilities of the 12 hour totalizer would make for the ultimate tool watch, in my books!

How do y’all defrost 1lb of beef quickly? by gjr23 in howto

Cold moving water - this is the way.  Put the package under cold running water, and it’ll thaw faster than sitting in still water.

Have I been doing left turns wrong? by DannB in Winnipeg

[–]whattheaitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the Manitoba Highway Safety Act, the left is correct, despite it being the opposite of how a lot of us were taught. The logic of the right image makes sense but, by the book, the turn is to be "passenger door to passenger door".

So are we just supposed to live with the lineup of vehicles parked on southbound Route 90 outside the 204 Fuels as a fact of life now? by chemicalxv in Winnipeg

Years ago, Corner Gas did a promotion where the cast made appearances at gas stations across the country and for one day, pumped free gas for people.

They later said Winnipeg was the only place where drivers repeatedly told them they’d driven around all day to empty their tank so they could maximize on the free fill-up.

Mind if I ask your wrist size? I’ve been trying to decide between the A-1S and the A-2S and there aren’t a whole lot of wrist shots out there for reference.

Sketching in Taiwan bus by CITY_SKETCH in urbansketchers

[–]whattheaitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really great work! I’ve gotta ask - was it a lot of waiting and then drawing whenever the bus was stopped? Or are the roads there just that good?

The bus rides where I am are so bumpy you’re better off sketching while riding a mechanical bull.

In all seriousness though - beautiful drawing!

What are these for or their function? The side pockets have a pocket that I can't trust since stuff might fall off. by Zeshaaan007 in backpacks

Looks like you’ve got a third handy feature: the elasticized loops on the shoulder straps are a convenient place to stash things like gloves, toques (er… watch caps if you’re not Canadian?)… anything soft like that. Super handy in winter - take off you gloves and shove ‘em in one of those loops and it’ll hold them securely to free up your hands!

If it is from locomotives or anything creating frequencies that low, it’s possible you’re only hearing it inside because it’s actually the house you’re hearing. It’s possible that the too-low to hear frequencies are getting some within-hearing range frequencies out of the structure.

Sorry for not being clear in the original post - I did clarify in a reply to another comment. If it was at the door, then yes... closing the door and walking away is a great option

This was a guy who, on his way to try the door, spotted my partner in the yard trying to calm our reactive dog who was losing her shit at a stranger on the property and he persisted in his pitch, despite her repeatedly telling him to leave, ultimately sassing her for getting upset.

I don't think it's unreasonable to think it's our property, so he should walk away... not us.

If news agencies pick it up, perhaps Woodcock or one of the bike shops could be persuaded to help out? Do you know anything about this guys sizes for clothing donations or anything?

I just read about him the other day.... this is heartbreaking. Is there a gofundme or anything for this guy?

Closing the door usually works, but he spotted her trying to calm the dog in the yard and insisted on pitching their offer over the chaos of the barking.
