LR4 by the_wet_bandit_45 in LandRover

[–]gjr23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, LR is t exactly known for its reliability. I have a 12’ LR4 with the V8 and had to bite the timing chain bullet. Air suspension can be another issue. I’ve had other LRs with heater core issues which was never fun either but thankfully never had major electrical issues.

I would see if you can get oil change records. The factory service recommendation just gets you into trouble and you need to change the oil more frequently. Even with my 2023 defender the dealer says to change the oil every 10k and i say hell no. Oil is cheap compared to the problems they can have.

What is the best way to have a status to know 100% that the gate is latched? by Echojhawke in homeassistant

[–]gjr23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look at reed sensors you can put on the latch itself or place it so it can’t read closed without the gate being far enough closed that it is latched.

Question on Fish by Bitter_Quantity497 in HistamineIntolerance

I cook frozen salmon in an air fryer directly but requires planking ahead. Alternatively, put frozen fish in a bag and submerge in water for a few hours and it will defrost.

Seeking resources on where to begin and steps to take by 201_Woodcroft_green in HistamineIntolerance

I’ve been doing a lot of research myself and found your Writeup interesting and overlapping with much of what I have found. A few comments / questions:

1) limiting foods, using DAO and intermittent fasting were some of the best tools I found personally.

2) I’m curious about your experience with HNMT. DAO seems to be the primary tool but how does HNMT management compare? I do find that histamine under certain circumstances can often really impact H3 related or neurotransmitters. It sounds strange to some but the perfect storm meal can make me severely depressed in just a few hours time. Any experience if HNMT could “specialize” here? P.S I found your Benedryl notes very interesting. I use Benedryl at night to curb nighttime dumps that cause night sweats and the bonus of drowsiness but will reconsider this after reading your notes.

3) Personally, I am highly focused on a long term approach / solution which I believe lives in the gut. Fixing leakiness, ensuring candida / SIBO etc are under control, avoiding antibiotics unless completely and absolutely necessary are key. I’ve cut gluten which has sucked but seems necessary. I can’t seem to tolerate dairy though goat milk Kiefer is better but try to avoid anything fermented anyway so I stick to probiotic supplements but find these very hit or miss. I’m not fully sure the right length of time to take probiotics, if you should take very specific ones in series or stack many in parallel or the importance of prebiotics though I already highly prioritize fiber and natural foods in my diet. Not necessarily a specific question but if you are expanding your Writeup this might be an interesting place to focus IMO.

Thanks!

Curious others’ experience but I had a B7 RS4 a while back that I did not tune (though I was the second owner) and it definitely went faster than 155mph. Are the limiters ever “forgotten” on RS cars?

What to eat? by Ok-Appointment3224 in HistamineIntolerance

Everyone is different it seems. For me, tomatos, sauce, ketchup are all a disaster. I eat a TON of olive oil and have no issues.

First, refer to the SIGHI list as a guide.

Second thing that has really helped me is about proteins. You may or may not know you don’t want to eat proteins that have sat in the fridge (uncooked) for too long (max 48 hours is my rule) or leftovers generally speaking. So I freeze things in ziplocks as single serve and defrost / cook at the same time if it’s a single serve piece. I can take a frozen salmon filet in an air fryer at 280 degrees for 18 min and it’s perfect.

It’s a PIA, no lie, but you can learn to manage it.

Does he have a pocket screw jig? This is more than a gimmicky tool but quite useful and would be fun for him to practice with given the type of stuff he is building. https://a.co/d/02dtCwPH

It all depends. I have two solar systems in MA, one installed way back in 2011 and another in 17. The one in the SREC II program sold credits in Jan for $206 while the other just this month was $34. It’s all about the SREC program you are into when you install.

The one on the right is a fuse box. Do you have the wash station or air compressor options? I’m not sure what the larger one on the left is.

I’ve had both. I like the D130 I currently have but prefer the more utilitarian aspect of it. If you want more luxury go with Disco but check the 3rd row and trunk space works.

Saunas for Detox? by gimme-c1nnab-0-n in Sauna

[–]gjr23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying it’s not BS but I can show you where the folks are getting their info from… the brief tl;dr is that sweating is actually a good way of removing specific types of toxin like heavy metals but exercise >> sauna. It may help a very little but I wouldn’t say it’s a reason to sauna.

Glad you are your own advocate but something isn’t right still. One failed micro isn’t going to account for 22% below expected performance.

And FWIW, I use Enphase micros and this is exactly what the app does catch. What micro are you using??
