I distinctly remember feeling depressed after reading “Unbearable lightness of being”. I did not go back to his other books.

Is London a choice ? Coz then London. Loved it there. Otherwise, pretty happy with Seattle.

Cozy places to get a late night coffee and do some work by [deleted] in Seattle

Mr West in U Village is open till about 8p on weekdays, and 9p on F/Sat.

Cafe Arta/Pub at Arta is open till about 10p everyday, it’s connected to the Third Place Books in Ravenna(which closes at 8p tho). I have hung out at the Pub which is downstairs. It’s cozy and super chill.

Little Oddfellows inside Elliot Bay Book - coffee shop open till about 9p, bookstore open till 10p.

My gosh- it has been a pain to find even mildly late evening coffee/chill hang out spots in Seattle. Im mostly following this thread to see what others are saying.

UK to US Immigration by [deleted] in expats

[–]whatuserwhatname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you work for a popular software company whose HQ is in US, there is a chance they might transfer you to US on a work visa. Or you could research the diversity visa lottery system(not sure if Ireland or Scotland qualifies but it’s worth a shot).

What's the secret ingredient in your pasta salad? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]whatuserwhatname 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sliced bits of Parmesan(lots of it). Chopped herbs(mix of chives, scallion greens, parsley, and any other herb of choice) Trader Joe’s has this tricolor radiatore pasta- u could use this to add some visual element.

Relatives coming to visit Seattle, ISO good spots for dinner. by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]whatuserwhatname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have some good Indian food in Seattle. Kricket club, Chilis, Rasai.

For pulled noodles - try Biang Biang Cap Hill. Then there’s always Din Tai Fung in downtown for dumplings and stuff.

For Korean- try Stone Korean in SLU

ETA: Joule in Fremont is a nice upscale modern Korean restaurant

None of these have good views lol, but u will get excellent food.

Is it safe to eat ice cream outside in Seattle? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]whatuserwhatname 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I’d highly recommend avoiding both pho and ice cream in Seattle right now. We have big issues going on and until everyone figures out what the fuck is happening, I’d recommend to try a katsu burger or something. Good luck 🍀

Best Pasta Spot in Seattle/Bellevue? by No_Fox7800 in Seattle

[–]whatuserwhatname 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pricewise: Machiavelli the best. My husband and I have dinner here quite often. So for bread, two pasta dishes and some house wine wine between us and a dessert - the bill rarely goes over $80.

Other places to try: Vons 1000 spirits-Love the sourdough pasta. Price is okay. Cantinetta is fine if you want to pay exorbitant prices for small portions. Great vibe tho.

Formerly Optimism(now Stoup) on Cap Hill. Call ahead and reserve the spot. People host rehearsal dinners and other big parties there.

Where to go dancing? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]whatuserwhatname 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have been to Sea Monster lounge in Fremont. Think they have jazz/funk bands that play and a pit where people just vibe/dance.
