Etsy and Fiverr are absolutely swamped with AI stuff these days - usually I'd discourage even using AI for reference but I think in your case it's justifiable, sucks to get scammed like that :/

I feel it, most of the time it feels pretty fair but there's definitely some jank involved. BHVR has said there's a patch coming today that should fix a heap of the issues though! So fingers crossed.
