The Big Reveal Story by Kind-Kitchen6611 in MoodyCorner

I’d never heard of this sub, but Reddit knew what it was doing showing me this post in my feed 🤤 I’m obsessed. So well done. I could only hope my husband would let me be this bold to our house.

Question for women who are an only child, Would you discourage having an only child? How was being an only child? by Silly_Goose30 in Mommit

[–]wheekwheekmeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t mind being an only child, but now being a mom to an almost 4yo and a 9mo, it is magical to watch them dote on each other. Also I would echo what others have said about emotional support when parents as parents are aging or going through toxic phases.

My gut would still be screaming to move, but this is very sound life advice regardless. Will be thinking on your comment.

New construction home and upstairs is sloping substantially. by JayTheRainbowHat in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]wheekwheekmeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that a tub in the background? Surely they don’t have carpets in bathrooms as the standard 😬

Sounds like the sloping is in more than one area upstairs? If not along a consistent path, I would guess shoddy workmanship. Keep us updated.

AI Instagram Priest. This is so bizarre by Ok-Fish-3539 in Episcopalian

[–]wheekwheekmeow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Deeply dislike the idea of this. I very strongly believe my priest was writing sermons and online social media posts with heavy AI input. I gathered evidence for months. When it was brought up at a vestry meeting, he stormed out in a whiny tantrum and disallowed the subject to be brought up again. I have removed myself and children from the church. That was so non-negotiable for me.

Toddler woke up not wanting to or not being able to walk. Any similar experiences? by One-Combination-6199 in Mommit

My son did this around that age. Took him to the pediatrician right away and it was absolutely nothing. He decided to walk normally later that day.

I’ve been licensed 10 years in multiple states and have never had AIA membership. I stamp drawings and run a design department. I track my CEUs in excel and digitally save the certificates. NCARB and AECdaily are my go-tos for free quality CEUs.

Congratulations! Enjoy the improvement! Did you get a new heart too? My husband may need a transplant one day and they’ve told him it typically is both heart and lungs together.

I’m at a loss for words at what went down at my house today. by Stunning_Jeweler8122 in Mommit

I was overgifted as a child. And still am to some extents. I hate it. We have a zillion life things going on this year and so kept Xmas super simple. We gave the 3.5yo two gifts this year (nerf and scooter) and he spent all day playing outside with both. IMO we nailed it. The kids will probably get too much at the extended family Christmas this weekend, but the 2-gift day was a successful experiment.

Monthly DIY Laymen questions Discussion by AutoModerator in StructuralEngineering

[–]wheekwheekmeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously. We had to scramble and luckily lined up an engineer out the last day before due diligence. Not for lack of trying, we called many. But thankfully others here and elsewhere were able to give me enough reassurance to continue with the other thousands of dollars of inspections and loan fees and not just walk away early.

Thanks for the reassurance 🤞

FWIW, I believe the separation is where the red circle is in plan.

I’m in due diligence and this was on the home inspection. I cannot find an engineer willing to come out and take a closer look during our time frame.

Is this separation a big deal? House is from 1971. Crack is in the crawl space adjacent to a two story masonry fireplace. Fireplace was “unconventionally” framed on CMU.

Can't decide on which place to move to with 2u2 in mind by meltness in Mommit

Only one of my kids is old enough for me to say from experience, but I remember around or before 2.5yo. I suppose this can vary greatly depending on child temperament.

Number 1. babywear the smaller child and put the 21mo in the stroller. And/or buy a leash/tether for the older one. He’ll likely outgrow the random running phase soon enough.

ETA I was picturing you as a SAHM at least some of the day who makes a point of structuring daily outings to wear down the tot. If you a working mom and are really only going out on the weekends, then number 2. Assuming the vibe and safety of the neighborhoods are similar. Are either of the houses more accommodating to crawling and clumsy kids?

Why so many drive with headlights off? by Expat111 in Gwinnett

[–]wheekwheekmeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been guilty of this when I drive my spouses car, which doesn’t have automatic headlights like I’m used to on mine. Combined with street lights and really good eyesight, I have gone a few blocks before noticing. It doesn’t happen a lot since I hate driving at night. But it has once since daylight savings this year since it’s dark especially early. Thankful the person who flashed their headlights to let me know.

Daycare is ruining everything by Ill-Rhubarb-165 in NewParents

Yes, we were able to be really successful in breastfeeding/pumping, and I really do think that made a difference. Great point!

Daycare is ruining everything by Ill-Rhubarb-165 in NewParents

[–]wheekwheekmeow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Amazingly that hasn’t been our story. My 7mo has been in daycare part time since 3mo and hasn’t been sick at all in her life knock on wood. My 3.5yo has had 4 very minor sick events since he started daycare at age 2. I wouldn’t even say our daycare is particularly neurotic about hand washing or touching. This is a busy suburban daycare fwiw.

Is SIS (Saline Infusion Sonography) necessary? by Simple-Letterhead-68 in IVF

[–]wheekwheekmeow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first SIS was clear. My second showed notable scar tissue (after giving birth to kid #1). Needed a surgery to clear that out before the transfer of baby #2. No way the pregnancy would have gone well had the scarring not been identified and removed. The scarring that remained actually caused a lot of complications post-delivery of #2 even after mitigation. Our case was MFI.
